4. Setup Instructions

4.1 Powering the Units

  • Main Display Unit: Power the main unit using the provided USB cable (DC 5V 1.2A). Alternatively, it can be powered by 2 x AA batteries (not included) for backup, though the backlight will only illuminate for 15 seconds when battery-powered.
  • Outdoor Sensor: Insert 3 x AA batteries (not included) into the outdoor sensor.

4.2 Outdoor Sensor Installation

The outdoor sensor should be installed in an open area to ensure accurate readings for wind, rain, temperature, and humidity. It can be mounted using the provided installation accessories.

  1. Choose an elevated, unobstructed location, such as a pole or fence post, away from buildings, trees, and other obstacles that could interfere with wind or rain measurements.
  2. Use the installation base and included screws/anchors to securely mount the sensor.
  3. Utilize the integrated bubble level on the sensor to ensure it is perfectly horizontal. This is crucial for accurate rainfall and wind direction measurements.
  4. Ensure the wind direction vane is oriented correctly (e.g., pointing North if that is the desired reference).

4.3 Main Display Unit Placement

The main display unit can be placed on a flat surface (standing) or mounted on a wall. Choose a location indoors where you can easily view the display.

The weather station and sensor are designed for easy installation and can be standing or wall-mounted.

4.4 Wireless Connection

The outdoor sensor automatically transmits data to the main display unit using a 433.92MHz RF frequency. The transmission range is up to 100 meters (300 feet) in an open area. Ensure both units are powered on and within range for successful communication. The system should automatically pair upon initial power-up. If connection issues occur, refer to the troubleshooting section.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Display Functions

  • Time/Date/Week: The display shows the current time, date, and day of the week. The perpetual calendar extends up to the year 2099.
  • Language Selection: You can select the week language from eight options: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Danish, and Russian. Refer to the detailed manual for navigation.
  • Weather Forecast: The station provides a graphical weather forecast based on atmospheric pressure changes.
  • Temperature & Humidity: View current indoor and outdoor temperature (Celsius/Fahrenheit) and humidity readings.
  • Wind Data: Displays current wind speed (km/h or mph) and wind direction (0-359 degrees).
  • Rainfall: Shows accumulated rainfall in millimeters or inches.
  • Atmospheric Pressure: Displays barometric pressure in HPA, INHG, or mmHg.

5.2 Advanced Features

  • Alarms & Snooze: Set two daily alarms. The automatic snooze function can be set from OFF to 5-60 minutes. Alarm time, period, snooze time, and snooze repetitions are configurable.
  • Warning Functions: Configure warnings for upper and lower limits of temperature and humidity, upper limit of wind speed, and upper limit of rainfall. The station will alert you when these thresholds are met.
  • Calculated Readings: The display shows somatosensory temperature, wind chill index, thermal index, and dew point temperature, which are calculated from the detected environmental data.
  • Backlight: When powered by USB, the backlight brightness can be adjusted to Class 3. When powered by batteries, the screen will only light up for 15 seconds to conserve power.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the display unit and outdoor sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both units when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Ensure correct polarity.
  • Outdoor Sensor Check: Periodically check the outdoor sensor for any debris (leaves, dirt) that might obstruct the rain funnel, wind cups, or temperature/humidity vents. Clean as necessary.
  • Placement: Ensure the outdoor sensor remains securely mounted and level for continued accuracy.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Power: Check USB power connection or replace AA batteries in the main unit.
  • No Outdoor Data: Ensure the outdoor sensor has fresh batteries and is within the 100m transmission range of the main unit. Try re-pairing the sensor by removing and reinserting batteries in both units, then waiting for them to connect.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Verify the outdoor sensor is installed in an open area, away from heat sources or obstructions, and is level.
  • Wind/Rain Not Registering: Check for physical obstructions (e.g., spiderwebs, debris) in the wind cups, wind vane, or rain funnel.
  • Display Issues: If the display is dim or flickering, check power source or replace batteries.
