6.1. Jump Starting a Vehicle

Follow these steps carefully to jump start your vehicle:

  1. Ensure Safety: Park the vehicle in a safe location, engage the parking brake, and turn off all electrical loads (lights, radio, AC).
  2. Connect Clamps to Jump Starter: Insert the blue plug of the smart battery clamps firmly into the 12V 'JUMP START' port on the jump starter. Ensure a secure connection.
  3. Connect Clamps to Car Battery:
    • Attach the RED (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the car battery.
    • Attach the BLACK (-) clamp to a clean, unpainted metal part of the car's engine block or chassis, away from the battery. Alternatively, connect to the negative (-) terminal if accessible and safe.
  4. Check Indicator: The smart clamp indicator light will show the connection status. A solid green light indicates a correct and safe connection. If it's red or flashing, check your connections.
  5. Start Vehicle: Once the indicator is green, start your vehicle's engine. If it doesn't start immediately, wait 30 seconds before trying again. Do not crank for more than 3 seconds per attempt.
  6. Remove Clamps: Once the engine starts, immediately remove the BLACK (-) clamp from the car, then the RED (+) clamp.
  7. Disconnect from Jump Starter: Disconnect the smart clamps from the jump starter unit.

Caution: Do not touch the red and black clamps together. Do not leave the jump starter connected to the car battery after the engine has started.
