5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The GD155 Anemometer requires 3 x 1.5V AAA (LR03) batteries (not included). Follow these steps to install or replace batteries:

  1. When the low battery symbol () appears on the display, it's time to replace the batteries.
  2. Locate the battery cover on the back of the device. Unscrew and open the battery cover.
  3. Remove any old batteries from the battery compartment.
  4. Insert three new 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  5. Reinstall the battery cover and fasten the screws to secure it.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the Power button to turn on the device.
  • Press and hold the Power button again to turn off the device.

6.2 Wind Speed Measurement

To measure wind speed, temperature, and humidity:

  1. Turn on the anemometer using the Power button.
  2. Hold the anemometer so that the fan plane is aligned vertically with the direction of the airflow you wish to measure.
  3. The display will simultaneously show the wind speed, wind temperature, and relative humidity.

6.3 Data Hold Function

To freeze the current reading on the display:

  • Press the Data Hold / Backlight button (less than 1 second). The 'H' icon will appear on the display, indicating that the current reading is held.
  • Press the Data Hold / Backlight button again (less than 1 second) to exit data hold mode and return to live measurement.

6.4 Backlight On/Off

To control the display backlight:

  • Press and hold the Data Hold / Backlight button for more than 2 seconds to enable or disable the backlight function.

6.5 MAX/MIN/AVG Function

To view maximum, minimum, or average values:

  • Press the MAX/MIN/AVG button (less than 1 second) to activate the maximum value display.
  • Continue pressing the MAX/MIN/AVG button to cycle through maximum (MAX), minimum (MIN), and average (AVG) values.
  • Press and hold the MAX/MIN/AVG button for more than 1 second to return to normal measurement mode.

6.6 Temperature Unit Selection

To change the temperature unit:

  • Press the °C/°F button to switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).

6.7 Wind Speed Unit Selection

To change the wind speed unit:

  • Press the UNIT button to cycle through the available wind speed units: meters per second (m/s), kilometers per hour (km/h), miles per hour (mil/h), feet per minute (ft/m), feet per second (ft/s), and knots.

6.8 Auto Shutdown Function

The device features an automatic shutdown function to conserve battery life:

  • By default, when the device is powered on, the auto-shutdown function is active. If no operation is performed for 10 minutes, the device will automatically power off.
  • To cancel the auto-off function: Press and hold the Power button before turning on the meter. While holding, press the Power button to turn on the device. Release the Power button after the meter is on. The auto-off function will be canceled, and the auto-off symbol will not be displayed.
  • To restore the auto-off function: Simply turn the power off and then on again. The auto-off function will be restored, and the auto-off symbol will reappear on the display.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Replacement

Refer to Section 5.1 for detailed instructions on battery replacement.

7.2 Cleaning

To maintain the instrument's condition and ensure accurate readings:

  • Do not use corrosive agents or solvents to clean the instrument, as this may damage the casing.
  • Regularly wipe the outer shell with a mild detergent or a damp cloth.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your GD155 Digital Anemometer, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Display/Power On: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace them if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the fan blade is clean and unobstructed. Verify that the anemometer is held correctly, with the fan facing the airflow. Avoid strong direct light on the fan.
  • Display Freezes: Check if the Data Hold function is accidentally activated (indicated by 'H' on the display). Press the Data Hold button to deactivate it.
