5. Safety Information

6. Installation

The QS-WIFI-CP03 module is designed to be installed behind a traditional curtain switch or directly connected to the motor. Ensure power is disconnected before proceeding.

6.1 Wiring Diagram

Refer to Figure 3 for the wiring connections. The module has terminals labeled N, L, L1, L2, S1, S2.

  • Power Input: Connect the Live (L) and Neutral (N) wires from your mains power supply to the corresponding 'L' and 'N' terminals on the module.
  • Motor Connections:
    • Connect the motor's 'Up' wire to the 'L1' terminal on the module.
    • Connect the motor's 'Down' wire to the 'L2' terminal on the module.
    • Connect the motor's 'Common' (Neutral) wire to the 'N' terminal on the module.
  • Traditional Switch Connections (Optional): If integrating with a traditional wall switch:
    • Connect the 'Up' wire from the traditional switch to the 'S1' terminal on the module.
    • Connect the 'Down' wire from the traditional switch to the 'S2' terminal on the module.
    • Connect the Live (L) wire from your mains power supply to the common terminal of the traditional switch.

6.2 Placement

The compact size of the module (50 * 46.0 * 24mm) allows it to be placed inside a standard wall switch box, behind the traditional curtain switch. Ensure there is enough space and proper insulation.

7. Initial Setup and App Pairing

  1. Download the Tuya App: Search for 'Tuya Smart' or 'Smart Life' in your mobile app store (iOS or Android) and download it.
  2. Register/Login: Create an account or log in to your existing account.
  3. Add Device: Power on the QS-WIFI-CP03 module. The module should enter pairing mode (often indicated by a blinking light). In the Tuya App, tap '+' to add a new device. Select 'Curtain Switch' or 'Curtain Module' from the device list.
  4. Connect to Wi-Fi: Follow the in-app instructions to connect the module to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Ensure your phone is also connected to the same 2.4GHz network during pairing.
  5. Rename Device: Once successfully added, you can rename the device for easier identification (e.g., 'Living Room Curtains').

7.1 Voice Assistant Integration

To integrate with Google Home or Amazon Alexa:

  1. Open the Google Home or Amazon Alexa app.
  2. Navigate to 'Skills & Games' (Alexa) or 'Works with Google' (Google Home).
  3. Search for 'Tuya Smart' or 'Smart Life' skill/service and enable it.
  4. Link your Tuya account with your voice assistant account.
  5. Discover devices. Your QS-WIFI-CP03 module should now appear and be controllable via voice commands.

8. Operation

8.1 App Control

Open the Tuya Smart app. Select your curtain module. You will typically find options to:

  • Open/Close curtains fully.
  • Pause curtains at any desired position.
  • Adjust the opening percentage (e.g., 50% open).

8.2 Voice Control

Once integrated with Alexa or Google Home, use commands such as:

  • "Alexa, open Living Room Curtains."
  • "Hey Google, close Bedroom Blinds."
  • "Alexa, set Living Room Curtains to 50%."

8.3 Scheduling and Timers

Use the Tuya Smart app to set up schedules for automated curtain operation.

  1. In the device control interface, look for a 'Timer' or 'Schedule' option.
  2. Set desired times for opening or closing, and specify the action (Open, Close, Pause).
  3. You can set daily, weekly, or custom repeat schedules.

8.4 Group Function and Scene Setting

The Tuya app allows you to group multiple curtain modules or integrate them into smart scenes with other devices. For example, a 'Good Morning' scene could open your curtains and turn on your coffee maker simultaneously.

9. User Tips

  • Wi-Fi Signal Strength: Ensure the module is installed within a strong 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal range for reliable operation.
  • App Updates: Regularly check for updates to the Tuya Smart app to ensure you have the latest features and security patches.
  • Calibration: Some curtain motors may require calibration within the app to accurately set open/close positions and percentages. Refer to the Tuya app's specific device settings for this.

10. Maintenance

The QS-WIFI-CP03 module requires minimal maintenance.

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure the operating temperature and humidity conditions are met.

11. Troubleshooting

11.1 Device Not Connecting to Wi-Fi

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The module does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Check Wi-Fi signal strength at the installation location.
  • Verify correct Wi-Fi password entry in the app.
  • Try resetting the module (using the 'Reset' button) and re-pairing.

11.2 Curtains Not Responding

  • Check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and correct.
  • Verify the module has power.
  • Ensure the motor is functioning correctly when controlled manually.
  • Check the app for any error messages or device offline status.

11.3 Voice Control Issues

  • Confirm that the Tuya Smart skill/service is enabled and linked in your Alexa/Google Home app.
  • Ensure the device name in the Tuya app is recognized by your voice assistant. Try simple, clear names.
  • Redo device discovery in your voice assistant app.
