5.2 App Installation and Pairing

  1. Download the "Tuya" or "Smart Life" app from your phone's app store.
  2. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. If your router combines 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, separate them in your router settings to ensure connection to the 2.4GHz band.
  3. Open the app and set up your account.
  4. In the app, select "Add Device" > "Lighting devices" and confirm the device.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions for Easy Mode or AP Mode (press the on/off button of the device 5 times to enter pairing mode).

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the LED strip with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: If storing the LED strip for an extended period, ensure it is unfolded and stored in a cool, dry place to prevent damage and overheating when next used.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Light strip not turning on: Check all physical connections (strip to controller, controller to power adapter, power adapter to wall outlet). Ensure the power adapter is functioning.
  • Cannot connect to Wi-Fi/App:
    • Verify your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. Separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands in your router settings if they are combined.
    • Ensure your router's encryption mode is WPA2-PSK and authentication type is AES.
    • Try resetting the device by pressing the on/off button 5 times to enter pairing mode again.
  • Incompatible power source: The LED strip requires a DC24V power source. A 12V power source is incompatible and will not work.
  • Extending the strip: It is generally not recommended to extend the strip beyond its original length without consulting the manufacturer or using a compatible, higher-wattage power supply. Overloading the power adapter can cause damage or fire hazards.
  • Cutting the strip: LED strips can typically be cut at designated marks (often indicated by a scissor icon or copper pads). Cutting elsewhere may damage the strip and render it unusable.

9. User Tips

  • For optimal app connectivity, ensure your router settings are configured to prioritize the 2.4GHz band for smart devices.
  • Always unroll the entire LED strip before powering it on for testing or prolonged use to prevent heat buildup.
  • When planning your installation, consider the flexibility of the silicone tube for bending, but avoid sharp folds that could damage the internal wiring.
  • The IP67 waterproof rating means the strip is protected against temporary immersion in water, but the controller and power adapter are not. Ensure these components are kept dry.
