3. Setup and Connection

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the FightBox controller from its packaging.
  2. Joystick Assembly (if applicable): If your model features a detachable joystick shaft (e.g., RAC-J300S), ensure it is securely attached before use. The quick coupling mechanism allows for easy attachment and detachment.
  3. Placement: Place the controller on a stable, flat surface. The six non-slip pads on the bottom will help prevent movement during intense gameplay.
  4. Connection: Connect the controller to your gaming system (PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, or Switch) using the provided USB (Type B to Type A) cable. The cable length is approximately 3 meters.
  5. Power On: Once connected, your system should automatically detect the controller. No additional drivers are typically required for basic functionality on supported platforms.

4. Operating Instructions

The FightBox controller is designed for intuitive use in fighting games. Familiarize yourself with the button layout specific to your model and platform.

4.1 Directional Control

  • Joystick: For models with a joystick, use it for traditional directional input.
  • Directional Buttons: For all models, the four buttons on the left side function as directional keys (Up, Down, Left, Right).
  • HitStick Functionality: In models like the M1, you can use the joystick and the four directional buttons simultaneously. This allows for a "HitStick" style of play, combining traditional joystick movement with precise button inputs for directions.

4.2 Action Buttons

The eight Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons on the right side of the controller are your primary action buttons (e.g., punches, kicks, special moves). Their specific in-game function will depend on the game's control scheme.

4.3 System Buttons

  • Start & Select: Two buttons on the side of the controller typically serve as Start and Select functions.
  • Back Panel Buttons:
    • PC Version (M1-PC, etc.): Home, Mode, R3, L3. The HOME button is used to switch between PC360 mode (default) and other modes. The MODE button is used to switch between the cross keys and the left/right stick.
    • PS Versions (M1-PS, M1-PS5, etc.): R3, L3, Share, Touchpad. The TOUCHPAD button is used to activate the touch pad function of the PS controller.

4.4 SOCD Cleaning

The controller supports SOCD (Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Directions) cleaning, which is a tournament standard. This means:

  • Pressing UP + DOWN simultaneously results in a neutral UP input.
  • Pressing LEFT + RIGHT simultaneously results in a neutral directional input.

4.5 Macro Recording Demo (M8 Model Example)

Some models, like the M8, may support macro recording for complex button sequences. Refer to the video below for a demonstration of macro recording functionality.

5. Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your FightBox controller.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the black matte acrylic panel and buttons. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or components.
  • Joystick Care: For models with a detachable joystick shaft, ensure it is clean and free of debris before reattaching. Periodically check for any looseness in the joystick mechanism.
  • Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If transporting, consider detaching the joystick shaft to prevent damage.
  • Cable Management: Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the USB cable to prevent internal wire damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your FightBox controller, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Controller Not Detected:
    • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the controller and your gaming system.
    • Try connecting to a different USB port on your system.
    • Restart your gaming system or PC.
    • Verify that your system's drivers are up to date (especially for PC).
  • Buttons/Joystick Unresponsive:
    • Check the cable connection.
    • Ensure the correct "Mode" is selected if your PC version controller has a Mode button (e.g., PC360 mode).
    • For PS versions, ensure the controller is properly recognized by the console and not in a "guest" or unassigned state.
    • Test the controller on another compatible system if possible to rule out a system-specific issue.
  • Incorrect Inputs (SOCD): The controller features hardware-level SOCD cleaning. If you experience unexpected directional inputs when pressing opposing directions, ensure your game's settings are not overriding or conflicting with the controller's SOCD logic.
  • PS5 Native Games (PS4 Version): Remember that the M1-PS (PS4 version) does NOT support native PS5 games. If you are trying to play a PS5-exclusive title, you will need the M1-PS5 version.

8. User Tips

  • Customization: The manufacturer supports customized patterns. If you wish to personalize your FightBox, contact customer service with your desired pattern.
  • PS5 Compatibility: When purchasing, ensure you select the correct model for PS5. The "M1-PS" (PS4 version) will play PS4 games on PS5, but for native PS5 game support, you need the "M1-PS5" version which includes the UFB-UP5 board.
  • Direct Console Connection: The PS versions (M1-PS, M1-PS5) are designed for direct connection to the game console, completely replacing all functions of a standard controller. This means you typically do not need to connect a separate controller for authentication.
