2.4. Device Pairing (Bluetooth)
Follow these steps to pair your sensor with the app:
- Ensure your smartphone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on.
- Open the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' app.
- Remove the back cover of the sensor and install the batteries.
- Press and hold the button on the sensor for 5 seconds until the LED light flashes.
- In the app, click the "+" icon at the upper right corner of the homepage, then click "Add Device".
- The app will prompt you to turn on Bluetooth (if not already on) and will automatically search for nearby devices.
- Once the "Temperature Humidity Sensor" is discovered, click "Add" and then "Done" to complete the pairing process.
Note: If using an Android phone for direct Bluetooth connection, some models may require GPS to be enabled for low-power Bluetooth functionality.
2.5. Remote Monitoring Setup (Requires Bluetooth Gateway)
For remote monitoring and advanced smart home features, a Tuya Bluetooth Gateway or Tuya Multi-Mode Gateway is required. The sensor cannot be directly connected to Wi-Fi.
To enable remote monitoring:
- Add your Tuya Bluetooth Gateway to the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' app.
- Ensure the sensor is paired with the app and within Bluetooth range of the gateway (typically within 10 meters).
- The gateway will act as a bridge, allowing you to monitor the sensor's data from anywhere via the internet.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1. Real-time Monitoring
Once paired, you can view real-time temperature and humidity data in the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' app.
- Local Monitoring: If connected directly via Bluetooth to your phone, you can monitor data when your phone is within approximately 20 meters of the sensor.
- Remote Monitoring: If linked to a Tuya Bluetooth Gateway, you can monitor data from anywhere with an internet connection.

3.2. Temperature and Humidity Alarms
You can set up temperature and humidity alarms within the app. If the detected values exceed your set upper or lower limits, you will receive alert notifications on your mobile phone. This feature requires a Bluetooth gateway.

3.3. Customizing Automation Scenes
The sensor can be integrated into smart home automation scenes. For example, you can set up a scene where an air conditioner automatically turns on if the room temperature exceeds a certain value, or a humidifier activates if humidity drops below a threshold. This functionality requires a Bluetooth hub and an IR remote controller (purchased separately).

3.4. Voice Control with Smart Speakers
The sensor supports voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. You can ask these smart speakers for the current temperature and humidity. This feature requires a Bluetooth gateway.
- Alexa: "Alexa, what's the [device name] humidity?" or "Alexa, what is the temperature of [device name]?"
- Google Assistant: "OK Google, what's the [device name] humidity?" or "OK Google, what's the [device name] temperature?"

3.5. Temperature Unit Selection (°C/°F)
You can switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) in the app settings. Navigate to the sensor's settings within the app and select your preferred temperature unit. The sensor will update to the new unit after a short period.

Figure 8: Fahrenheit (°F) / Celsius (°C) Optional Setting
3.6. Group Control Function
Multiple temperature and humidity sensors in different rooms can be grouped together within the app to realize a group control function, allowing for centralized monitoring and management.

4. Maintenance
4.1. Battery Replacement
The sensor is powered by 2x AAA 1.5V batteries. With typical usage, the battery life is approximately 8-10 months. The app will provide a low-battery reminder when replacement is needed.
4.2. Placement Guidelines
- Place the sensor in a location where it can accurately measure ambient temperature and humidity.
- Avoid placing the sensor near heat sources (e.g., direct sunlight, heaters, ovens) as this can affect accuracy.
- The sensor is designed for household indoor usage only and is not suitable for outdoor environments.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1. Inaccurate Readings
- After initial setup, allow approximately 30 minutes for the sensor to stabilize and provide accurate readings that reflect the environment.
- Ensure the sensor is not placed near heat sources or in direct sunlight, which can cause skewed readings.
- Note that all temperature and humidity sensors have a certain error margin. For this sensor, the temperature error is ±0.2℃ and humidity error is ±3% RH. Readings within this range are considered normal.
5.2. Connection Issues
- Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled. For some Android devices, enabling GPS may also be necessary for Bluetooth connectivity.
- If the device does not connect, try re-pairing the device by holding the button for 5 seconds until the LED flashes, then re-adding it in the app.
- For remote monitoring, ensure your Tuya Bluetooth Gateway is properly set up and connected to the internet, and the sensor is within its Bluetooth range (within 10 meters).
5.3. Data Update Frequency
- The sensor uses a trigger mechanism: it reports data immediately when temperature changes by > ±0.5°C or humidity by > ±5%.
- Otherwise, data is generally updated every 30 minutes when connected to the app or gateway.
- If the sensor is not connected to the app or a Bluetooth gateway, it will update every 1 hour under stable conditions.
- The data update frequency cannot be manually adjusted (e.g., to 30 seconds).
5.4. Smart Speaker Display/Functionality
- Third-party smart speaker apps (e.g., Amazon Alexa, Google Home) may not correctly display temperature and humidity values directly.
- Voice query functionality is supported to verbally retrieve current temperature and humidity.
- Automation routines or processes related to temperature and humidity cannot be directly established on third-party smart speakers; these must be configured within the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' app, requiring a Bluetooth gateway.

7. User Tips
- For optimal accuracy, allow the sensor 30 minutes to 1 hour to acclimate to the room temperature after placement or battery installation.
- Keep the sensor within 20 meters of your phone for local Bluetooth monitoring. For remote access, ensure it's within 10 meters of a connected Bluetooth gateway.
- If you experience connection issues on Android, try enabling your phone's GPS function, as low-power Bluetooth can sometimes be tied to it.
- The sensor's data update frequency is automatic and cannot be manually adjusted. It updates based on significant changes or at regular intervals (30 mins to 1 hour).
- The sensor is designed for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors.
- Avoid placing the sensor near any heat sources to ensure accurate readings.
