4. Installation

Follow these steps to install your REHENT Smart WiFi Peephole Doorbell Camera:

  1. Prepare the Door: Ensure your door has a peephole with a diameter between 17mm and 35mm. If not, drill a hole within this range. The door thickness should be between 35mm and 105mm.
  2. Attach Camera Unit: Select a screw that fits the thickness of your door and insert it into the bolt machine of the camera unit.
  3. Pass Cable Through Peephole: Pass the camera's cable through the peephole from the outside of the door.
  4. Prepare Mounting Plate: After straightening out the cable, thread the screw through the Hang plate (mounting plate).
  5. Secure Mounting Plate: Tighten the fixed screws in sequence to secure the mounting plate to the door.
  6. Connect Doorbell Wire: Buckle the doorbell wire into the correct direction on the monitor unit.
  7. Install Monitor Unit: Install the doorbell host (monitor unit) onto the hanging plate.

5. Setup & Configuration

5.1 App Connection (Tuya Smart or Smart Life)

The doorbell connects wirelessly to your 2.4GHz WiFi router. Note: 5GHz WiFi is not supported.

  1. Download the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" app from your mobile app store (iOS & Android).
  2. Ensure the monitor unit is fully charged before initial setup.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to add the device. This typically involves scanning a QR code displayed on the monitor or generated by the app.
  4. Plug the cable between the monitor and camera.

5.2 Smart Home Integration (Alexa/Google Assistant)

For models supporting Alexa or Google Assistant (check your product SKU for "ALEXA" words), you can wake up the doorbell viewer using voice commands:

  • "Alexa, show me [Device Name]"
  • "Hey Google, show me [Device Name]"

5.3 Battery Charging

The device has a built-in 5000mAh rechargeable lithium battery. To charge:

  • Use a 5V1A charger. Do NOT use a fast charger, as this can easily damage the battery.
  • A full charge takes at least 8 to 10 hours.
  • The monitor does not need to be removed for charging, thanks to the 3-meter Type-C cable.

6. Operation

6.1 PIR Motion Detection

The PIR (Passive Infrared) motion sensor automatically detects body movement. When motion is detected, it triggers push notifications to your app and initiates video recording (stored on a TF card or mobile phone). This keeps your home secure 24/7.

6.2 One-Way Talk Functionality

When someone is at the door and triggers the PIR, your app will receive notifications. You can view the live feed to see who is at the door and hear what the visitor is saying. However, due to the mini size of the camera unit, there is no built-in speaker on the camera part. Therefore, visitors cannot hear you speak through the doorbell.

6.3 HD Night Vision

The doorbell camera provides clear vision both day and night. It features automatic day/night mode switching to ensure the best image quality in varying light conditions. The mini 940nm lens does not have an IR-CUT filter, which means the live view in the app might show a slight color cast in certain environments, especially when facing direct light or white surfaces.

6.4 Remote Access and Multi-Device Sharing

The Smart Life app allows you to access your camera remotely from anywhere, anytime. You can check camera images and past video records even when you are away. The system supports multiple users viewing the camera and past video records simultaneously, allowing your family to monitor the home's status in real-time.

6.5 Storage Options

The device supports a maximum of 128GB TF (Micro SD) card for local event-based recording. The TF card is not included and must be purchased separately. Cloud storage is also available, but requires a separate subscription.

Note: Continuous recording is not supported. The camera only records upon motion detection (PIR triggered) or manual activation. This is due to its battery-powered nature.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Care

To maximize battery life and ensure proper function, always charge the device using a 5V1A charger. Avoid using fast chargers. The 5000mAh battery typically lasts 1-2 months based on 10-20 events per day. You will receive low battery notifications via the app when charging is needed.

7.2 Cleaning

Gently wipe the monitor screen and camera lens with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the surfaces.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device Won't Turn On After Initial Use: Please ensure the device is properly charged for at least 8-10 hours with a 5V1A charger.
  • "The Connection Failed" Message: If prompted with this message when ringing the doorbell after the device has been successfully configured, there may be too many barriers between your Wi-Fi router and the device, which has weakened the signal. Ensure your Wi-Fi configuration is correct and the device is within range of a strong 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal.
  • App Does Not Recognize Device: Try resetting the device (using the Home/Reset button on the monitor) and re-pairing it with the app. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during the pairing process.
  • Short Battery Life: Battery life is highly dependent on the number of events (motion detections, live views) per day. If you experience significantly shorter battery life than expected, reduce the frequency of live views or adjust PIR sensitivity settings in the app.
  • No Two-Way Audio: This device features one-way audio (listen only). The camera unit has a microphone but no speaker due to its compact size. You can hear visitors, but they cannot hear you.
  • Color Cast in Live View: Due to the wide-angle lens and the absence of an IR-CUT filter in the mini camera, the live view in the app might exhibit a slight color cast in certain lighting conditions, especially when exposed to direct light or bright white areas. This is normal operation for this specific camera design.
  • No Continuous Recording: The device is designed for event-based recording (triggered by PIR motion or manual activation) to conserve battery. Continuous 24/7 recording is not supported.

9. User Tips

  • Initial Charge: Always fully charge the device for 8-10 hours before its first use to ensure optimal battery performance.
  • Wi-Fi Stability: For reliable performance and notifications, ensure your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable at the door where the camera is installed.
  • Understand Audio: Remember that the audio is one-way (listen only). If two-way communication is crucial, this model may not meet your needs.
  • Battery Management: Monitor battery levels via the app and charge proactively to avoid interruptions. The battery life varies significantly with usage frequency.
  • Local Storage: If you require video recording, install a Micro SD card (up to 128GB) for local storage of triggered events.

10. Warranty & Support
