6.3 Settings Configuration

Navigate to the "Setting" section within the device interface in the app to customize various functions:

  • Timing Arm/Disarm: Set schedules for when the sensor should be armed or disarmed.
  • Alarm Sound: Enable or disable the alarm sound upon detection.
  • Alarm Time: Adjust the duration of the alarm sound.
  • Alarm Volume Value: Control the loudness of the alarm.
  • Welcome Mode: Enable this feature for a "Dingdong" sound when motion is detected in disarmed status.
  • Alarm Message Propel: Configure app notifications for alarms.
  • Master Language: Choose between "Sound Light", "Only Sound", "Only Light", or "Mute & No Light Mode" for the sensor's response.

7. Intelligent Linkage

The Tuya WiFi PIR Motion Sensor can be integrated with other smart home devices through the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app to create automated scenarios:

  • Night Lighting: Link the PIR sensor with a smart light. When motion is detected, the light turns on, and turns off after the person leaves.
  • Security System: Pair the PIR sensor with a smart webcam. Upon motion detection, the camera can start recording, and you receive an alert.
  • Energy Reduction: Connect the PIR sensor to a smart switch or socket. Devices connected to the switch/socket can be turned off when no motion is detected for a set period, saving energy.

8. User Tips

  • Optimal Placement: For best detection, place the sensor in a location where movement is expected across its field of view, rather than directly towards it. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight, which can cause false triggers.
  • Welcome Mode Customization: Utilize the 'Welcome Mode' feature in disarmed status for entryways or retail spaces to provide an audible greeting without triggering a full alarm.
  • Power Reliability: As the sensor is powered via Type-C, ensure a stable power supply to maintain continuous operation and monitoring. Consider a UPS or power bank for backup in critical areas.
  • Regular App Checks: Periodically check the 'History Records' in the app to review past detections and ensure the sensor is functioning as expected.

9. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the sensor lens and body with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the sensor is kept within its specified working temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage and ensure optimal performance.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app regularly for any available firmware updates to ensure your device has the latest features and security enhancements.

10. Troubleshooting

  • Sensor Not Connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The sensor does not support 5GHz networks.
    • Verify that your Wi-Fi password is correct.
    • Make sure the sensor is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
    • Restart your router and try the pairing process again.
    • Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your phone during the initial pairing process.
  • False Alarms:
    • Check for heat sources (e.g., vents, radiators) or direct sunlight near the sensor that might trigger it.
    • Ensure pets are not entering the detection zone if you wish to avoid pet-triggered alarms. Adjust sensor placement or sensitivity if possible.
    • Clean the sensor lens to remove any obstructions or smudges.
  • No Detection:
    • Verify the sensor is powered on and the indicator light is active.
    • Check the detection angle and distance in the specifications and ensure the area of interest is covered.
    • Ensure the sensor is not obstructed by furniture or other objects.
    • Confirm the sensor is in 'Arm' status if you expect an alarm.
  • App Notifications Not Received:
    • Check your phone's notification settings for the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app to ensure they are enabled.
    • Verify your phone has an active internet connection.
    • Ensure 'Alarm Message Propel' is enabled in the sensor's app settings.
