1. Introduction

The Weytoll TC-8200 and TC-8100 are advanced dust particle counters designed for monitoring air quality, temperature, humidity, and AQI (Air Quality Index) grade. Utilizing a scattering principle, these devices provide accurate and reliable measurements for various applications, including clean room inspection, industrial production, and particle pollution source detection. Both models feature a 3.2-inch TFT full-color display, data recording capabilities, and a user-friendly interface.

2. Package Contents & Setup

2.1 Package Contents

Upon opening the package, ensure all items are present:

  • 1 x Dust Particle Counter (TC-8100 or TC-8200)
  • 1 x USB Cable
  • 1 x Tripod
  • 1 x User Manual (English)

2.2 Power Supply

The device can be powered by its built-in rechargeable lithium battery or via a USB cable. The 2200mAh lithium battery provides approximately 9 hours of working time and can be charged using the provided USB cable. The battery cover is designed for easy removal and installation, facilitating battery replacement when necessary.

2.3 Attaching the Tripod

For stable measurements, attach the included tripod to the device. The tripod screws into the designated port at the bottom of the unit.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Device Overview

Familiarize yourself with the device's components and controls:

  • Air Intake/Outlet: Points for air sampling.
  • Temperature & Humidity Sensor: Measures ambient temperature and humidity.
  • 3.2" TFT Screen: Displays all measurement data and settings.
  • Control Buttons: Include Power on/off, Mode Switch, Confirm (ENTER), Curve Graph, Alarm Value Set, and °C/°F switch.
  • Battery Cover: Located at the back for battery access.
  • Tripod Support: Threaded hole for tripod attachment.

3.2 Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power button (Power on/off button icon) to turn the device on or off. The device will undergo a boot stabilization period of approximately 10 seconds before displaying readings.

3.3 Reading Measurements

The 3.2-inch TFT color screen displays real-time data for particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10, and various particle sizes), temperature, and humidity. The display also shows the AQI Grade.

  • TC-8100: Detects 0.3μm, 2.5μm particle sizes, PM2.5, PM10 concentration, AQI Grade, temperature, and humidity.
  • TC-8200: Detects 0.3μm, 0.5μm, 1.0μm, 2.5μm, 5.0μm, 10μm particle sizes, PM2.5, PM10 concentration, AQI Grade, temperature, and humidity. It can also assess cleanliness against ISO 14644-1 ISO5 to ISO9 levels.

3.4 Data Record & Curve Graph

The device can store up to 999 groups of data records. Press the 'Curve Graph' button to view historical data curves, allowing for convenient analysis of trends over time.

3.5 PM2.5 Alarm Function

The device includes a PM2.5 alarm function. You can easily turn the alarm buzzer on or off and set a custom alarm value using the 'Alarm Value Set' button.

3.6 Settings Menu

Access the settings menu to configure various parameters:

  • OFF-Backlight: Adjust backlight settings.
  • Record Interval: Set the interval for data recording.
  • Brightness: Adjust screen brightness.
  • Data Clear: Clear recorded data.
  • Time&Date: Set the current time and date.
  • Auto shutdown: Configure automatic power-off to save battery.
  • Language: Select the display language (e.g., English).
  • Reset: Reset the device to factory settings.

3.7 Exporting Data

The device supports exporting data, including PDF reports, by connecting to a computer via USB. Navigate to the data export option in the settings menu and follow the on-screen prompts.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance, keep the device clean. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the casing or screen. Ensure the air intake and outlet ports are free from dust and obstructions.

4.2 Battery Replacement

The device features a removable lithium battery. If the battery's performance degrades over time, it can be replaced. Carefully open the battery cover located on the back of the device, remove the old battery, and insert a new compatible 3.7V 2200mAh lithium battery. Ensure correct polarity before closing the cover.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your device, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the battery is charged or connected to a USB power source. Check if the battery is correctly installed.
  • Inaccurate readings: Ensure the air intake/outlet is clear of obstructions. Allow the device to stabilize for at least 10 seconds after powering on. Perform a factory reset if necessary.
  • Screen not responding: Try restarting the device. If the issue persists, ensure the battery is adequately charged.
  • Data export issues: Verify the USB cable connection to both the device and the computer. Ensure the correct export option is selected on the device.

  • Data Logging: Utilize the data logging feature to track air quality trends over time. Export data periodically to prevent loss and for detailed analysis.
  • Alarm Customization: Set the PM2.5 alarm threshold according to your specific needs or local air quality guidelines to be alerted to elevated particle levels.
  • Screen Brightness: Adjust screen brightness to conserve battery life, especially in well-lit environments.
