3. Setup and Installation
3.1. Battery Installation
- Push the mounting bracket upward to detach it from the main sensor body.
- Insert two AAA 1.5V batteries into the battery compartment, ensuring correct polarity as indicated by the graphics inside the bin.
- After inserting the batteries, the indicator light on the sensor will flash briefly and then turn off.
- Reattach the mounting bracket to the main sensor body.

3.2. App Download
Download the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' app from your mobile device's app store (Google Play for Android, App Store for iOS). Alternatively, scan the QR code below:

3.3. Device Pairing (Wi-Fi Connection)
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile phone.
- Open the Smart Life app and tap the '+' icon to add a new device.
- On the sensor, press and hold the black button for more than 5 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly. This puts the device into pairing mode.
- The app will start 'Discovering devices'. Once the 'Contact Sensor' appears, tap 'Add'.
- Enter your Wi-Fi network password when prompted. The device will then connect to your Wi-Fi network automatically.
- Once successfully added, the app will display 'Device added successfully'. Tap 'Done'.
3.4. Physical Installation
The sensor consists of two parts: a main body and a magnetic strip. They should be installed on the door/window frame and the moving part of the door/window, respectively.
- Clean the surface where you intend to install the sensor.
- Peel off the 3M adhesive tape from the back of both the main sensor body and the magnetic strip.
- Stick the main sensor body to the door/window frame and the magnetic strip to the door/window itself.
- Ensure the distance between the transmitter (main body) and the magnetic strip is less than 10mm when the door/window is closed for optimal performance. Avoid installing near strong magnetic fields.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. App Monitoring and Notifications
Once connected, you can access the sensor's interface in the Smart Life app. The app will display the current status (open/closed) and send instant notifications to your phone when the door or window status changes.

4.2. Voice Control
The sensor works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. You can use voice commands to check the status of your doors and windows. For example, say "Alexa, is the door locked?" or "Hey Google, check status of door sensor in bedroom."

4.3. Intelligent Linkage
Leverage the Tuya Smart Life platform to create automation scenarios:
- Security Scene: Set up an 'away from home' mode. If the sensor detects a door opening, it can trigger an alarm, send a notification to your phone, and if linked with an IP camera (not included), it can initiate video recording.
- Convenience Scene: Link the sensor with smart lights. For example, when a door opens, the lights can automatically turn on, and when it closes, the lights can turn off (requires a compatible Wi-Fi switch for lights).

4.4. Sharing Devices
You can share your added devices with family members through the Smart Life app. This allows multiple users to monitor the environment and receive alerts.
5. Maintenance
5.1. Battery Replacement
The sensor is powered by 2*AAA 1.5V batteries. It features a low-battery reminder function that will push messages through the Tuya app when the power is low. Replace batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.

Note on Battery Life: The battery life is directly related to how frequently the sensor is triggered. More frequent triggers will result in shorter battery life.
5.2. Cleaning
To maintain optimal performance, periodically wipe the sensor and magnetic strip with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1. Connection Issues
- Sensor not pairing: Ensure the sensor is in pairing mode (indicator light flashing rapidly). Check that your phone's Bluetooth is on and that you are connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (5GHz networks are not supported).
- App not discovering device: Make sure the sensor is within range of your Wi-Fi router and your phone. Restart the app and try again.
- Wi-Fi password incorrect: Double-check the Wi-Fi password entered in the app.
6.2. Notifications Not Working
- Check app settings: Ensure notifications are enabled for the Smart Life app in your phone's settings.
- Battery level: A low battery can affect the sensor's ability to send notifications. Check the battery status in the app and replace if necessary.
- App permissions: Verify that the Smart Life app has all necessary permissions (e.g., notification access) on your phone.
6.3. Inaccurate Open/Close Detection
- Magnetic distance: Ensure the gap between the main sensor body and the magnetic strip is less than 10mm when the door/window is closed.
- Alignment: Verify that the two parts of the sensor are aligned correctly.
- Interference: Check for any strong magnetic fields or metal objects nearby that might interfere with the sensor's operation.
7. User Tips
- Manage Notifications: If you wish to avoid notifications when you are home, explore the 'Smart' or 'Automation' section within the Smart Life app. You can often set up rules to disable notifications during specific times (e.g., 'Home Mode' during the day) or based on your location.
- Optimize Battery Life: To extend battery life, consider using the sensor in areas with less frequent door/window activity. Regularly check the battery status in the app.
- Placement for Security: For maximum security, consider placing sensors on all entry points, including less obvious windows or back doors.
