  • Cable Management: Keep the OBD or cigarette lighter cable neatly tucked away to avoid tangles or damage.
  • Temperature: The LCD screen is designed for wide temperature ranges, but extreme heat or cold can affect its lifespan. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when the vehicle is parked.
  • Storage: If storing the device for an extended period, disconnect it from the vehicle and store it in a cool, dry place.

8. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your C3 HUD.

8.1 Common Problems & Solutions

Figure 10: Common Car Troubles the HUD Can Help Diagnose

  • No Display/Power: Ensure the OBD cable or cigarette lighter cable is securely connected to both the HUD and the vehicle's power source. Check the vehicle's ignition status.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Verify that the HUD is in the correct mode (OBD or GPS). If using OBD mode, ensure your vehicle is compatible (generally cars after 2008). If using GPS mode, ensure a clear view of the sky for satellite acquisition. You may need to perform a 'Factory Reset' from the settings menu if data remains inconsistent.
  • Ghosting/Double Image: The C3 HUD is designed to minimize ghosting with its optical imaging technology. Ensure the display screen is clean and positioned correctly. Adjust the angle if necessary.
  • Alarms Triggering Incorrectly: Check the alarm thresholds in the settings menu (e.g., Speed Alarm, Water Temperature Alarm, Voltage Alarm) and adjust them to your desired levels.
  • Navigation Issues (C3 Plus only): Ensure your mobile device is properly connected and the navigation app is running. Check for strong GPS signal on your phone.

8.2 Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCS)

The C3 HUD can perform car data scanning and depth detection diagnosis, allowing you to read and clear DTCS (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

To scan or clear DTCS, navigate to the 'OBD Diagnose' option in the settings menu.

8.3 Safety Alarms

The HUD includes several safety alarms to prevent unsafe driving conditions:

  • Low Voltage Alarm: Triggers if voltage drops below 10.0-15.0V (user-settable range).
  • Water Temperature Alarm: Activates if water temperature reaches 120°C (user-settable).
  • Speed Alarm: Alerts if speed exceeds a set RPM (default 6000r/min, settable 1000-8000).
  • Speeding Reminder: Provides a reminder if speed exceeds 150KM/h (settable 50-200km/h).
  • Engine Failure Alarm: Notifies of potential engine issues.

9. User Tips

  • Vehicle Compatibility: The OBD HUD is generally suitable for cars manufactured after 2008. If your vehicle is older, it might not be fully compatible with the OBD mode. In such cases, the GPS mode can still be used.
  • Voltage Considerations: If your vehicle's voltage is higher than 24V (common in some heavy-duty vehicles), always use the USB cable for GPS mode to prevent damage to the device.
  • Speed Color Indicators: Pay attention to the speed display color: White for 0-99, Yellow for 100-119 (reminder), and Red for 120+ (alarm). This visual cue can help you maintain safe speeds.
  • Brightness Adjustment: Utilize the automatic light sensor or manually adjust the brightness (levels 1-8) to ensure optimal visibility in all lighting conditions.
