This transparent hard disk box allows you to easily convert your 2.5-inch SATA laptop hard drive or SSD into a portable external storage device. Featuring USB 3.0 connectivity with UASP support, it offers fast data transfer speeds and broad compatibility. Please read this manual carefully to ensure proper installation and operation.

5. Setup and Installation

The kebidu VIV000312 enclosure features a tool-free design for quick and easy installation.

5.1 Hard Drive Compatibility

This enclosure is designed for 2.5-inch SATA (Serial ATA) hard drives and SSDs with a thickness of 7mm or 9.5mm. It does NOT support IDE (Parallel ATA) interface hard drives. Please confirm your hard drive type before installation.

5.2 Installation Steps

Open the Enclosure: Gently press and push the top cover of the transparent enclosure to slide it open.
Install Hard Drive: Align your 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD with the SATA connector inside the enclosure and firmly insert it until it is securely seated.
Close the Enclosure: Slide the top cover back into place until it clicks, ensuring the hard drive is fully enclosed.

6. Operation

6.1 Connecting to a Computer

Connect the enclosure to your computer using the provided USB 3.0 cable. For optimal performance, use a USB 3.0 port on your computer. The enclosure is plug-and-play and typically requires no additional drivers for Windows, Mac OS, or Linux systems.

6.2 Data Transfer

Once connected, your computer should recognize the hard drive as an external storage device. You can then drag and drop files, copy, or move data as you would with any other drive. The blue indicator light on the enclosure will illuminate when connected and blink during data transfer, indicating activity.

6.3 Connecting to a Mobile Phone (OTG)

If your mobile phone has a Type-C interface and supports OTG (On-The-Go) functionality, you can connect the enclosure using an appropriate OTG adapter (sold separately). This allows you to access files directly from your hard drive on your phone.

6.4 Smart Sleep Function

The enclosure is equipped with a smart sleep function to prolong the lifespan of your hard drive and conserve energy. If the drive is inactive for a period, it will automatically enter sleep mode.

7. Maintenance

Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the enclosure. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
Storage: When not in use, store the enclosure in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and dust.
Handling: Handle the enclosure with care to prevent physical damage to the internal hard drive.

8. Troubleshooting

Enclosure not recognized by computer	Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the enclosure and the computer. Try a different USB port on your computer. Test with a different USB cable. Verify that the hard drive is properly seated inside the enclosure. Check if the hard drive itself is functional by testing it in another device if possible. For new hard drives, ensure they are initialized and formatted in Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac).
Slow data transfer speed	Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. USB 2.0 ports will result in slower speeds. Verify that your computer's USB 3.0 drivers are up to date. The actual speed may vary depending on the hard drive's performance and the computer's system.
Enclosure disconnects randomly	Ensure the USB cable is not loose. Check power management settings on your computer that might be turning off USB ports to save power. Avoid using unpowered USB hubs.
Mobile phone (OTG) connection not working	Ensure your phone supports OTG functionality. Verify that you are using a compatible OTG adapter. Check your phone's settings to enable OTG if required.

9. User Tips

Always safely eject the hard drive from your operating system before disconnecting the enclosure to prevent data corruption.
For optimal performance, especially with large files, ensure you are using a USB 3.0 port on your computer.
If using with a mobile device, confirm your phone's OTG compatibility and use a reliable OTG adapter.
