5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Print Head
Regular cleaning of the thermal print head ensures optimal print quality and extends the printer's lifespan. Use a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the print head surface. Ensure the printer is powered off and cooled down before cleaning.
5.2 Cleaning the Paper Path
Dust and paper debris can accumulate in the paper path, potentially causing paper jams or affecting print quality. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clear any debris from the paper compartment and path.
6. Troubleshooting
- Printer not powering on: Check power cord connections and ensure the power outlet is functional.
- No print output: Verify the printer is powered on, paper is loaded correctly, and the data cable is securely connected. Check printer driver installation and settings on your host device.
- ERROR light is on/flashing: This often indicates a paper jam or print head issue. Open the cover, clear any jammed paper, and check for obstructions around the print head. If the issue persists, power cycle the printer.
- PAPER light is on: The paper roll is either empty or very low. Replace the paper roll as described in Section 3.2.
- Poor print quality: Ensure you are using high-quality thermal paper. Clean the print head as described in Section 5.1.
- Cash drawer not opening: Verify the cash drawer cable is correctly connected to the printer's RJ11 port. Ensure your POS software is configured to send the cash drawer open command.
