5. Installation & Setup

The WOYO MLC Module is designed for plug-and-play installation. Follow these steps to connect the module and configure your spotlights.

5.1. Confirming Spotlight PWM Dimming Line Type

Before installation, it's crucial to determine if your spotlights use a "High Level" or "Low Level" PWM dimming line. This affects the controller's configuration.

  1. Connect your spotlight directly to a 12V power battery.
  2. Turn on the spotlight.
  3. Use a multimeter to test the voltage between the negative (-) terminal of the power battery and the dimming line of the spotlight.
  • If the voltage is close to 0V, it is a "Low Level" dimming line (e.g., Denali lights).
  • If the voltage is close to the power battery voltage (e.g., 12V), it is a "High Level" dimming line (e.g., GR lights).

5.2. Changing Dimming Level (High to Low)

The default setting for the MLC Controller (before August 24, 2023) is high-level dimming, directly compatible with GR brand spotlights. If your spotlights require a "Low Level" dimming configuration, you will need to modify the controller:

  • Open the side panel of the MLC module.
  • Solder the two designated solder joints together on the side of the circuit board.

5.3. Connecting the MLC Module

Connect the MLC module to your motorcycle's electrical system and spotlights as per the diagram. The module connects to the motorcycle's CAN bus and battery, and then to your spotlights.
