2.4. Placement and Installation
The sensor is ready to use with simple installation. Place the water-leakage detector at the desired testing location. It is ideal for areas prone to water leaks or high water levels, such as:
- Kitchens (under sinks, near dishwashers)
- Bathrooms/Toilets (near toilets, bathtubs, showers)
- Basements
- Laundry rooms
- Near water heaters or washing machines
- Warehouses, offices, laboratories, hotel rooms, garages
Use the provided double-sided tape for easy wall-mounted installation or simply place it on a flat surface. Ensure the probe is positioned where water accumulation is most likely to occur.

3.3. Intelligent Linkage
The sensor supports intelligent linkage with other smart home devices within the Tuya ecosystem. This allows for automated actions, such as turning off a water valve when a leak is detected (if compatible devices are connected and configured).
4. Maintenance
4.1. Battery Replacement
The sensor operates on two 1.5V AAA batteries. It features low power consumption and an 8-month long-time standby. The app will provide a low battery alert when replacement is needed. To replace batteries, follow the steps in Section 2.1.
4.2. Cleaning
Wipe the sensor and probe with a dry, soft cloth as needed to remove dust or debris. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the probe is clean for optimal detection.
5. Troubleshooting
- Device not connecting to Wi-Fi: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz (5G Wi-Fi is not supported). Check that your Wi-Fi password is correct and the sensor is within range of your router.
- No app notifications: Verify that app notifications are enabled for the Smart Life/Tuya App in your phone's settings. Check the sensor's battery level.
- False alarms: Ensure the sensor probe is not in contact with any moisture or condensation that could trigger a false alarm.
- Sensor unresponsive: Try replacing the batteries. If the issue persists, attempt to re-pair the device with the app.
