This motor is designed for tubular roller blinds, offering smart control via ZigBee protocol, RF433 remote, and voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Home. It features a built-in rechargeable lithium battery for convenience and energy efficiency.

4. Package Contents

The package includes:

  • English Manual x1

Note: The RF remote control and ZigBee gateway are not included and must be purchased separately if required. When controlling the device through the mobile APP, a gateway is required.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1. Charging the Motor

The motor features a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. It can be fully charged within 4 hours using a 5V DC 1.0A charger. Please unplug the charger when the battery is fully charged.

Caution: Please charge lithium battery devices at least 6 hours every 6 months to extend battery life.

5.2. Physical Installation (for Motorized Roller Shade Systems)

These steps outline how to convert existing roller blinds to a motorized system:

  1. Measure the diameter of the outer tube: Ensure it is compatible with the 38mm driving tube diameter of the motor.
  2. Purchase corresponding accessories: This includes the drive adapter, idler, idler bracket, wall bracket, and the crown.
  3. Remove manual components: Take down the manual roller blinds and remove the manual clutch from your outer tube.
  4. Insert the roller motor: Carefully insert the motor into the outer tube. Rotate the crown of the motor to align with the internal ribs of the tube.
  5. Adjust mounting brackets: Adjust the motor mounting wall bracket as necessary to ensure proper assembly.
  6. Mount the assembly: Keep the original left mounting bracket and idler as before, and then place the entire outer tube with the installed motor onto the wall bracket.

5.3. App Preparation and Connection

The Moes Smart ZigBee Tubular Roller Blinds Motor can be controlled via the Smart Life/Tuya App. The MOES APP is recommended for better compatibility and features.

  1. Download the MOES APP: Search for "MOES" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and download the application.
  2. Register or Log in: Open the MOES APP. If you are a new user, tap "Register" and follow the prompts to create an account using your phone number and setting a password. If you already have a MOES account, simply "Log in".
  3. ZigBee Hub Requirement: A ZigBee hub (wireless gateway) is required for the motor to connect to the app and enable smart control features. Ensure your MOES APP is successfully connected to a ZigBee gateway.

5.3.1. Connecting the APP to the Device (Method Two: Add Subdevice)

Ensure the device is within the effective signal coverage of your smart ZigBee gateway for successful connection.

  1. On the intelligent gateway interface in the MOES APP, click "Add sub device".
  2. Short press the PROG button on the motor 5 times continuously (once every second). On the 5th press, hold the button for 3 seconds.
  3. The motor will jog, and the green light will flash, indicating it has entered networking matching mode.
  4. In the app, click "LED already blink". The connection process may take 10-120 seconds, depending on your network condition.
  5. Once the motor matches the network successfully, the green light will stop flashing and then long flash for 2 seconds, and the motor will jog. This indicates the device has been added. Click "Done" in the app.
  6. Click "Done" again to enter the device page and begin using your smart motor.

6. Operation Instructions

6.1. Power ON/OFF

  • Power ON: Press and hold the PROG button on the motor for 1 second until the red light comes on. The motor is now ON.
  • Power OFF: Press and hold the PROG button for 7 seconds. The motor will jog once at the 1-second mark. The red light will then flash 3 times, indicating the motor is OFF.

6.2. Programming Preparation

If there is no action within 10 seconds during programming, the motor will automatically exit programming mode.

  • Method A: Press the PROG button for 1 second. The motor jogs once. The motor is now in setting mode.
  • Method B: Press and hold the STOP button on a programmed remote for 5 seconds. The motor jogs once. The motor is now in setting mode.

6.3. Pairing Remote Control

While the motor is in programming preparation mode, press the UP button on the RF remote. The motor jogs once, confirming that the motor and remote are now paired.

6.4. Changing Motor Direction

While the motor is in programming preparation mode, press the DOWN button on the RF remote. The motor jogs once, and its direction of operation is now reversed.

6.5. Setting Limit Positions

The motor supports setting 6 limit positions: 2 end limits (upper/lower) and 4 intermediate limits.

  • First Limit Position Setting:
    1. The motor jogs once, entering setting mode.
    2. The first limit can be either the Upper or Lower limit. If you press the UP button, the Upper limit is set as the first limit. If you press the DOWN button, the Lower limit is set as the first limit.
    3. Adjust the motor to the desired position. Press the STOP button, then press the PROG button. The motor jogs once, and the limit position is saved.
  • Other Limit Position Setting:
    1. Adjust the motor to the desired position.
    2. Press the PROG button again. The motor jogs once.
    3. Press the STOP button, then press the PROG button for 1 second. The motor jogs once again, and the limit position setting is complete.

If no action is taken within 30 seconds, the motor will automatically exit limit position preparation.

6.6. Fine-tuning Limit Positions

  1. Adjust the motor to the limit position you wish to fine-tune.
  2. Press the PROG button once. The motor jogs once, entering adjusting mode.
  3. Fine-tune the motor to the desired precise position.
  4. Press the PROG button to save the settings. The motor jogs once, confirming that fine-tuning is complete.

Note: Upper and Lower limit positions can only be fine-tuned once set. They can only be removed by resetting the motor.

6.7. Tilt Angle Adjustment (for Zebra/Shangri-la Blinds)

  1. Press and hold the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. The motor jogs, entering adjusting mode.
  2. To increase the tilt angle, press and hold the STOP button, then press the UP button.
  3. To decrease the tilt angle, press and hold the STOP button, then press the DOWN button.
  4. The motor jogs, indicating the adjustment is done.
  5. Press and hold the STOP button for 2 seconds to save and exit adjusting mode. The motor jogs once, confirming the setting is saved.

6.8. Jog Movement & Continuous Movement Switching

The default movement of the motor is continuous. This can be changed to jog movement or back to continuous movement for blind positioning or during fine-tuning mode. If controlled via the APP, it will always be continuous movement.

To switch between jog and continuous movement, press and hold the PROG button for 7 seconds. The motor will jog once at the 1-second mark, and then the red light will flash 3 times, indicating the switching is complete.

6.9. Deleting Remote Codes and Limit Positions

  • Delete Single Remote Code: While the motor is in programming preparation mode, press the "PROG" button on the back of the remote. The motor jogs once, and the single remote is deleted.
  • Delete a Limit Position: Run the motor to the specific limit position that needs to be deleted. Press and hold the PROG button for 7 seconds. The motor will jog once after 1 second, then enter setting mode. It will jog once again after 7 seconds, confirming that the preset limit position is now deleted.

6.10. App Control

Once connected to the MOES/Smart Life/Tuya App via a ZigBee hub, you can:

  • Take full control of your home curtains anytime from anywhere.
  • Set up timer functions for automatic opening and closing.
  • Share device control with family members.

6.11. Voice Control

The motor is compatible with Amazon Alexa Echo and Google Home for hands-free voice control. Ensure your ZigBee hub is connected with Alexa or Google Home, and the device is linked in the respective smart home app.

7. Maintenance

  • Battery Care: To extend battery life, charge the lithium battery devices for at least 6 hours every 6 months, even if not in regular use.
  • Cleaning: Keep the motor and surrounding area clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Obstacle Check: Regularly check for any obstructions that might hinder the movement of the blinds.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1. Resetting the Motor

If you encounter persistent issues, you may need to reset the motor. Make sure the interval between every action is less than 1 second.

  • Method A:
    1. Short press the PROG button, release when the red light comes on.
    2. Short press the PROG button again, release when the red light comes on.
  • Method B:
    1. Press the STOP button of the programmed transmitter for 5 seconds.
    2. Press and hold the PROG button for 3 seconds, release until the red light flashes twice.
    3. Press the PROG button and hold until the motor jogs twice. The reset is done.
  • Alternative Reset: Press the back PROG button for 7 seconds within 10 seconds. The motor jogs once at 1 second, then two more times at 7 seconds. The reset is done.

9. User Tips

  • Compatibility Check: Before purchasing, verify that your roller tube's diameter is 38mm and that the motor's 4KG load bearing capacity is sufficient for your blinds.
  • Solar Charging: For continuous power and reduced charging frequency, consider connecting the motor's battery to a compatible solar panel.
  • RF Remote: Remember that the RF remote is not included with the motor and needs to be purchased separately if desired for local control.
  • ZigBee Hub: A ZigBee hub is essential for all smart app and voice control functionalities. Ensure it is properly set up and connected to the MOES App.
  • Low Battery Indication: If the battery voltage drops to 6.2V, the red light will flash, and the motor will switch to jog mode. At 5.5V, the motor will stop operating.
