3.4 App Installation and Device Pairing
The smoke detector works with the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. Download the app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
- Download App: Search for "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" in your app store and install it.
- Register/Login: Open the app and register a new account or log in if you already have one.
- Add Device: In the app, tap the "+" icon to add a new device. Select "Smoke Detector" from the list of sensors.
- Connect to WiFi: Follow the in-app instructions to connect the smoke detector to your 2.4GHz WiFi network. You may need to put the device into pairing mode by pressing and holding the Test/Hush button until the LED indicator flashes rapidly.
- Confirm Pairing: Once successfully added, the app will confirm the device pairing.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Self-Test and Mute Function
- Self-Test: Press the "Test / Hush" button on the detector. The device will emit a loud alarm sound and the LED will flash, indicating it is functioning correctly. The app will also show a test alarm notification.
- Mute Function: In case of a non-emergency alarm (e.g., cooking smoke), press the "Test / Hush" button to temporarily silence the alarm for 15 minutes. The app also allows you to mute the alarm remotely.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Regular Testing
It is recommended to test your smoke detector weekly by pressing the "Test / Hush" button. This ensures the alarm sounder and internal circuitry are functioning correctly.
5.2 Cleaning
Dust and debris can accumulate on the smoke detector, potentially affecting its performance. Gently vacuum the exterior of the detector using a soft brush attachment at least once a month. Do not use water or cleaning solvents.
5.3 Battery Life and Replacement
The smoke detector is equipped with a built-in 10-year lithium battery (CR123A 3V, ≥2400mAh). The device will provide a low battery warning when the battery is nearing the end of its life. Due to the sealed nature and long lifespan, battery replacement is generally not required during the product's operational life. If the low battery warning persists, the unit may need to be replaced.
6. Troubleshooting
- False Alarms: If the alarm sounds without apparent smoke, check for sources like cooking fumes, steam, or excessive dust. Use the mute function if necessary. The insect-proof net design helps reduce false alarms from insects.
- No Alarm During Test: If the detector does not alarm when the test button is pressed, ensure the battery is activated (insulating sheet removed) and the device is properly powered. If the issue persists, the unit may be faulty.
- No App Notifications: Check your phone's notification settings for the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app. Ensure the detector is connected to your WiFi network and has a stable internet connection. Verify that the alarm push switch is enabled in the app settings.
- Device Offline in App: Confirm your home WiFi network is active and the signal strength is adequate where the detector is installed. Re-pair the device if necessary.
