4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

  • Connect the power cable to a suitable AC 1-230V power outlet. Ensure the outlet can handle the machine's power requirements.
  • The machine is equipped with an EU Plug. Use an appropriate adapter if necessary.

4.2 Gas Connection (for MIG/TIG)

  • Connect the gas hose from your shielding gas cylinder to the 'GAS' inlet on the rear panel of the welding machine.
  • Ensure all connections are tight to prevent gas leaks.
  • Turn on the gas cylinder valve and adjust the flow rate according to your welding process and material.

4.3 Wire Feeder Installation (for MIG/MAG)

  • Open the side panel of the machine to access the wire feeder compartment.
  • Place the wire spool onto the spindle, ensuring it rotates freely.
  • Thread the welding wire through the wire feeder mechanism, ensuring it passes through the drive rolls and into the MIG torch liner.
  • Adjust the tension of the drive rolls to prevent slipping or crushing of the wire.

4.4 Electrode/Torch Connection

  • MIG Torch: Connect the MIG torch to the appropriate connector on the front panel.
  • Electrode Holder (MMA): Connect the electrode holder cable to the positive (+) terminal and the ground clamp cable to the negative (-) terminal for most MMA welding.
  • TIG Torch: Connect the TIG torch to the appropriate connector. Ensure the gas line for the TIG torch is also connected if using gas TIG.
  • Ground Clamp: Connect the ground clamp to the workpiece, ensuring good electrical contact.

5. Operating Instructions

The Vniissok MiG-225 RPO offers multiple welding modes and advanced controls. Refer to the control panel diagram for specific button and knob functions.

Figure 4: Control Panel Layout and Functions

5.1 Welding Modes

  • SYN MIG (Synergic MIG): Semi-automatic welding in synergic mode. The machine automatically adjusts parameters based on material and wire selection.
  • MIG/MAG: Semi-automatic welding in manual mode. Allows for independent adjustment of voltage and wire feed speed.
  • MIG PULS (Pulsed MIG): Semi-automatic welding with pulsation.
  • MIG 2 PULS (Double Pulsed MIG): Semi-automatic welding with double pulsation for enhanced control and aesthetics, especially on aluminum.
  • TIG LIFT: Argon arc welding in normal mode (Lift TIG ignition).
  • TIG PULS: Argon arc welding with pulsation.
  • MMA: Manual metal arc welding (Stick welding) in normal mode.
  • MMA PULS: Manual metal arc welding with pulsation.

5.2 Parameter Adjustment

Use the control knobs and buttons on the front panel to select welding mode, material, wire diameter, and adjust parameters such as:

  • A (Amperage): Welding current.
  • V/% (Voltage/Percentage): Welding voltage or percentage adjustment in synergic modes.
  • Pre Flow: Pre-gas flow time.
  • Arc Striking: Arc ignition characteristics.
  • Arc Force: Helps prevent electrode sticking in MMA mode.
  • Peak: Peak current in pulse modes.
  • Welding: Main welding current/voltage.
  • Arc Ending: Arc termination characteristics.
  • Burn Back: Prevents wire sticking to the workpiece after welding.
  • Post Flow: Post-gas flow time.

5.3 Material and Wire Selection

The control panel allows selection of various material and wire combinations:

  • Gas/Wire Type: GuSi Air, Fe CO2, ER308, ER316, Aluminum (AlSi5, AlMg5).
  • Wire Diameter: 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm.

5.4 Welding Aluminum

The MiG-225 RPO is optimized for aluminum welding, especially with its double pulse feature. Select the 'AL' setting and appropriate aluminum wire (AlSi5 or AlMg5) for best results.
