2. Safety Information
- Read all instructions carefully before starting installation or operation.
- Ensure correct polarity (+ and -) when wiring the power supply to avoid damage.
- Remove batteries from remote controls if they will not be used for an extended period.
- Replace remote control batteries promptly if the remote becomes unresponsive or fails frequently.
- Handle the device gently; avoid dropping it.
- This product is designed for indoor and dry environments only.
- Avoid installing the device in large metal areas or areas with strong electromagnetic waves, as this may affect wireless control distance and signal integrity.
3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Wiring Diagram
The WT-SPI controller requires a DC 5-24V power supply. Connect the power supply to the 'INPUT 5-24VDC' terminals, observing polarity. The SPI signal output connects to your LED pixel strip or digital light tube.

Detailed wiring diagrams for connecting the WT-SPI controller to various SPI LED products.
Note: If your SPI LED strip uses a single-wire control method, the DATA and CLK signal line outputs of the controller are the same. One controller can connect up to 4 LED strips.
3.2 Network Connection
The controller supports WiFi 2.4G for Tuya APP control. Ensure your WiFi router operates on the 2.4G band, as the 5G band is not supported. Do not hide your router network (SSID).

Diagram illustrating WiFi and RF connections for the WT-SPI controller.
For optimal performance, keep the distance between the WT-SPI device and the router close, and ensure strong WiFi signals. The maximum effective range for WiFi is approximately 15 meters, and for RF remote control, it is about 30 meters in a spacious, unobstructed environment.
3.3 Pairing Remote Controls (R9 / RTS)
To match a remote control with the WT-SPI controller:
- Short press the 'MATCH' key on the controller.
- Immediately press the 'ON/OFF' key on the remote control.
- The LED indicator on the controller will flash a few times, indicating a successful match.
To delete all matched remote controls:
- Press and hold the 'MATCH' key on the controller for 10 seconds.
- The LED indicator will flash a few times, confirming all matched remotes have been deleted.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Tuya APP Interface
The Tuya APP provides comprehensive control over your LED strips. After successful network connection, the 'RUN' LED indicator will stop flashing, and the device will appear in the Tuya APP as 'RGB-SPI device'.

Examples of the Tuya APP interface for color, white, color card, and combination controls.
Key features of the Tuya APP include:
- Color: Adjust color rectangle for saturation and color, and brightness.
- White: Adjust color temperature and brightness.
- Color Card: Select from many different colors, adjust brightness.
- Combination: Select a proportional distribution of multi-color circles, or evenly distribute multiple colors on the LED strip.
- Color Fill: Change the color of the full segment of the LED strip.
- Color Pen: Change the color of a single segment of the LED strip.
- Eraser: Erase the color of a single segment of the LED strip (turn off the light for that segment).
- Color Transition: When there are multiple colors on the LED strip, you can set to turn on or off the color segment gradient transition.
- Scene Interface: 44 predefined scenarios and 10+ custom dynamic scenarios. Select from 16 types of variations (fade, jump, breath, flash, flow, rainbow, shooting star, pileup, flowing water, flowing light, trailing, flashing, stacking, chase, chaotic flashing, open and close, 1-8 colors, full or segment control, forward or reverse motion direction, adjustable brightness and speed).
- Music Rhythm Interface: 6 local music modes (rock, jazz, classical, rolling, energy, spectrum) and 3 APP music rhythms. The light follows the rhythm according to the music collected by the phone microphone. Note: The controller only supports App mode for music rhythms.
4.2 Remote Control Functions (R9 / RTS)
The R9 and RTS remote controls offer various functions for controlling your LED strips.

Functions of the RTS remote control, including color selection, brightness, and dynamic modes.
- On/Off: Power the LED strip on or off.
- Static RGB Color: Touch the color wheel to change the static RGB color.
- Color Saturation: Adjust 6 levels of color saturation (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%).
- Brightness: Adjust 6 levels of brightness.
- Dynamic Modes: Switch between various dynamic modes (static, flow, chasing light, pileup, flashing, changing light, blocking + block segment, bouncing, shuffle, jump, fade, breath, flashing, chaotic flashing).
- Speed Adjustment: Adjust the speed of dynamic modes.
- Save Effect: Save the current lighting effect to scenes 1-8.
4.3 Setting LED Strip Parameters with R9 Remote
To set the LED strip length, chip type, and RGB order using the R9 remote control:
- Press the 'SET' key for 2 seconds to enter parameter setting mode. The LED indicator turns green.
- Short press the 'SET' key to cycle through parameters (length, chip type, RGB order).
- Use the number keys (0-9) to input values.
LED Strip Length (Number of Pixels 10-1000):
- Example: "032" for 32 pixels, "600" for 600 pixels, "1000" for 1000 pixels.
LED Strip Chip Type:
- "11": TM1803
- "12": TM1809, TM1804, TM1812, UCS1903, UCS1909, UCS1912, SK6813, UCS2903, UCS2909, UCS2912, WS2811, WS2812, WS2813, WS2815, SM16703P
- ... and many more (refer to detailed image for full list).
LED Strip RGB Order:
- "1*GRB"
- "2*GBR"
- "3*BRG"
- "6*BGR"
Note: The factory default chip type is "12". If you need to change the chip type or RGB order, you must use the R9 remote control.
5. Maintenance
- Keep the controller and remote controls clean and dry. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid exposing the devices to extreme temperatures or humidity.
- Regularly check wiring connections for any signs of wear or damage.
- Ensure remote control batteries are replaced when needed to maintain optimal performance.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| LED strip not lighting up | Incorrect wiring, no power, faulty LED strip, incorrect pixel settings. | Check power supply connection and voltage. Verify SPI signal wiring. Ensure LED strip is functional. Check pixel length, chip type, and RGB order settings in the app or via remote. |
| Remote control not working | Low battery, remote not paired, out of range. | Replace remote control batteries. Re-pair the remote control with the controller (see Section 3.3). Ensure remote is within 30m range and there are no obstructions. |
| Tuya APP cannot connect to controller | Incorrect WiFi band, weak signal, incorrect pairing mode. | Ensure your WiFi router is on the 2.4G band. Check WiFi signal strength near the controller. Re-enter AP config mode if smart config failed. Ensure your router network is not hidden. |
| LED strip displays incorrect colors or patterns | Incorrect RGB order or chip type setting. | Verify and adjust the RGB order and chip type settings using the Tuya APP or R9 remote control (see Section 4.3). |
