1. Product Overview

The ATORCH S1 is a WiFi-enabled digital thermostat outlet designed for intelligent temperature control and energy monitoring. It allows users to remotely monitor and adjust temperature settings, manage heating and cooling equipment, and track power consumption via a mobile application. Equipped with a 2.4-inch TFT-LCD HD display, it provides real-time data and supports various protective functions.

The ATORCH S1 is available with different plug types (EU, AU, FR) and probe configurations. Please verify your package contents against the list below:

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Initial Power On and Display

Plug the ATORCH S1 into a compatible power outlet. The device will boot up and display the initial interface. The 2.4-inch TFT-LCD HD display will show various information including current temperature, voltage, current, power, and network status.

3.2 App Download and Installation

To utilize the remote control and smart features, download the companion mobile application:

  1. Search for "Tuya" or "Smart Life" in the Google Play Store (for Android devices) or Apple App Store (for iOS devices).
  2. Download and install the application on your smartphone.

3.3 Connecting to WiFi Network

The ATORCH S1 connects to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (IEEE 802.11b/g/n). Follow these steps to pair your device with the app:

  1. Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the "Tuya" or "Smart Life" app.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to add a new device. The app will guide you through the pairing process, which typically involves putting the S1 into pairing mode (refer to the device's screen for instructions, often indicated by a flashing WiFi icon).
  4. Enter your Wi-Fi network password when prompted.
  5. Once connected, the device's display will show network information, and you can control it remotely via the app.

3.4 Probe Connection

Connect the temperature probe(s) to the designated port(s) on the ATORCH S1. Ensure the connection is secure. The device supports both waterproof and metal magnetic NTC probes, depending on your specific application.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Display Interface Overview

The 2.4-inch TFT-LCD HD display provides comprehensive information at a glance. Key elements include:

  • Current Temperature: Real-time temperature reading from the connected probe.
  • Start/Stop Temperature Set: Configured temperature thresholds for heating or cooling.
  • Voltage (V), Current (A), Power (W): Real-time electrical parameters of the connected appliance.
  • Electricity (kWh): Accumulated energy consumption.
  • Frequency (Hz), Power Factor (PF): Additional electrical measurements.
  • Overload Indicators: Warnings for Over-Voltage (OVP), Over-Current (OCP), and Over-Power (OPP).
  • Date, Time, and Air Temperature: When connected to WiFi, the device displays calendar week and local air temperature data.

4.2 Operating Modes

The S1 supports three main operating modes, configurable via the mobile app:

  1. Switch Interface (ON/OFF): Simple on/off control for the connected appliance.
  2. Heating Mode Control: Maintains temperature above a set minimum.
  3. Cooling Mode Control: Maintains temperature below a set maximum.

4.3 Temperature Setting (Heating/Cooling)

To set the desired temperature range for heating or cooling:

  1. Open the Tuya or Smart Life app and select your S1 device.
  2. Navigate to the Heating or Cooling mode settings.
  3. Adjust the "Heating Start Temp" and "Heating Stop Temp" for heating mode, or "Cooling Start Temp" and "Cooling Stop Temp" for cooling mode.
  4. Ensure the stop temperature is at least one degree higher (for heating) or lower (for cooling) than the start temperature to prevent rapid cycling.

4.4 Timer Functions

The app allows you to set schedules for ON/OFF, heating, and cooling modes:

  1. In the app, navigate to the "Timing" section.
  2. You can set a timer switch to turn the device on or off at specific times, similar to a remote and timing switch.
  3. For heating or cooling modes, you can set specific temperature timing schedules.
  4. Configure repeat days (e.g., daily, specific days of the week) and notifications as needed.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Firmware Upgrade

ATORCH regularly releases new firmware to enhance features and performance. You can upgrade the device firmware remotely via the mobile app:

  1. Open the Tuya or Smart Life app.
  2. Navigate to your S1 device settings.
  3. Look for "Device Upgrade" or "Firmware Upgrade" option (usually in the upper right corner).
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to update the firmware. Ensure the device remains powered during the upgrade process.

5.2 Probe Care

  • Do not expose the temperature probes or their metal wires to fire.
  • Do not immerse metal magnetic probes in water, as this may lead to inaccurate measurements or damage.

5.3 Cleaning

Wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or allow liquids to enter the device.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Overload Protection

The S1 features automatic power-off protection for over-voltage, over-current, and over-power conditions. If the device shuts down unexpectedly, check the connected appliance's power consumption and ensure it does not exceed the S1's maximum ratings (16A, 3680W).

6.2 WiFi Connection Issues

  • Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal. The S1 does not support 5GHz networks.
  • Verify your Wi-Fi password is correct.
  • Move the S1 closer to your Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
  • Restart your router and the S1 device, then attempt pairing again.

6.3 Inaccurate Temperature Readings

  • Check if the probe is correctly connected and not damaged.
  • Ensure the probe is placed appropriately for the environment being measured (e.g., waterproof probe in water, metal probe for surface contact).
  • Avoid exposing probes to extreme conditions outside their specified operating range.

8. User Tips

  • Power Calculation: The device calculates active power using the formula P = U * I * cos φ, not simply P = U * I. This is important for accurate energy monitoring.
  • Overload Prevention: The relay is an internal switching device. Overloading the device beyond 16A is strictly prohibited to prevent damage and ensure safety.
  • App Updates: Keep your Tuya or Smart Life app updated to the latest version to ensure compatibility and access to new features and firmware updates for your S1 device.
