- Repair and maintenance should only be performed by qualified professionals. Self-disassembly is prohibited.
RF Energy Exposure and Product Safety Guide:
This radio is designed for occupational/controlled use. Users must be aware of RF energy exposure and how to control it to meet occupational requirements. Always adhere to the following procedures:
- When operating in front of the face or worn on the body, always use a Retevis-approved clip, holder, holster, case, or body harness. Using non-approved accessories may result in exposure levels exceeding IEEE/ICNIRP RF exposure limits.
- Transmit no more than 50% of the rated duty factor of the time. To transmit, push the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button. To receive calls, release the PTT button.
- Do not operate the radio without a proper antenna attached. This may damage the radio and exceed RF exposure limits.
- Do not transmit for more than 50% of total radio use time.
- Turn off the radio in areas where signs are posted to do so, especially in sensitive areas like hospitals, aircraft, and blasting sites.
- For portable use, maintain a separation distance of at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) between the head/device/antenna.
- For mobile use, ensure sufficient distance from a properly installed externally-mounted antenna.
Avoid Choking Hazard:
This product contains small parts. Keep out of reach of children under 3 years.
Protect Your Hearing:
- Use the lowest volume necessary for your task.
- Increase volume only in noisy surroundings.
- Decrease volume before adding a headset or earpiece.
- Limit the amount of time using headsets/earpieces at high volume.
- When using the radio without a headset/earpiece, do not place the radio's speaker directly against your ear.
- Excessive sound pressure from earphones/headphones can cause hearing loss.
Avoid Burns:
- Do not use any portable radio with a damaged antenna. Contact with skin may result in minor burns.
- Exercise care when handling batteries. If conductive materials (jewelry, keys, chains) touch exposed terminals, it may cause a short circuit and heat, leading to burns.
- Keep spare batteries securely.
- If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children.
- If batteries are swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
- Dispose of used batteries immediately and safely.
- During long transmissions, the radiator and chassis may become hot.
