1. Product Overview

The GEYA GTS8-W Intelligent WiFi Time Switch is a smart device designed for controlling electrical loads in smart home and industrial automation applications. It allows for periodic and regular switching of household equipment such as lights and appliances. The device supports remote control and scheduling via the Tuya Smart App, as well as manual operation.

It is available in 2-pole and 4-pole configurations and is designed for DIN rail mounting.

3. Setup and Installation

Important Safety Notice:

Caution: The products must be installed by qualified electricians. All and any electrical connections of the time relay shall comply with the appropriate safety standards.

3.1. Physical Installation (DIN Rail Mounting)

The GTS8-W switch is designed for DIN rail mounting (EN/IEC 60715). Ensure proper mounting in an electrical panel by a qualified professional.

3.2. Wiring Diagram

Connect the device according to the appropriate wiring diagram for your model (2P or 4P). Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes.

3.3. App Installation

  1. Download Tuya Smart App: Scan the QR code provided on the device or in the manual, or search for "Tuya Smart" in your mobile device's App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) to download and install the application.

  2. Ensure WiFi Connectivity: Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network. If your router uses a 2.4GHz/5GHz intelligent switching mode, temporarily disable the 5GHz signal to ensure proper device pairing.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Adding the Device to the App

  1. Initial State: When used for the first time, the WiFi indicator on the device will be off.
  2. Enter Pairing Mode: Press and hold the power button on the device for 5 seconds. The device will enter the distribution network state, and the WiFi indicator will start flashing.

  3. Add Device in App: Open the Tuya Smart App on your phone and click the "Add Device" button. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the device addition.
  4. Confirmation: Once the device is successfully added, its icon will appear on the main interface of the App, and the WiFi indicator on the device will be steadily on.

4.2. App Control Features

  • Remote On/Off: Control the connected load remotely through the mobile phone App.
  • Scheduling: Set the load to turn on and off regularly (e.g., daily, weekly) through the App.
  • Countdown Timer: Utilize the countdown setting to automatically switch the load on or off after a specified duration.
  • Sunrise/Sunset Timing: Configure the device to automatically turn on/off based on local sunrise and sunset times, ideal for street lights or outdoor lighting.
  • Circulate Timing: Set the device to turn on/off repeatedly during a defined period.
  • Device Renaming: Change the name of the device in the App for easier management.

4.3. Manual Control

You can also control the on/off status of the load directly using the physical button on the equipment. The ON/OFF indicator on the device shows its current status.

5. Reconfiguring WiFi

If you need to reconfigure the WiFi connection or restore the device to factory settings:

  1. Via App: If you no longer use this device, you can delete it from the App. This action will restore its factory settings, allowing you to add it again through the App.
  2. Manually: Press and hold the power button on the device for 5 seconds at any time. The device will re-enter the WiFi configuration state (WiFi indicator flashing), allowing you to add it again through the App.

6. Maintenance

The GEYA GTS8-W switch is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. Ensure the device is kept in a clean, dry environment within the specified operating temperature range (-20°C to +55°C). Periodically check electrical connections for tightness and signs of wear. For cleaning, use a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device not connecting to WiFi:
    • Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network.
    • If your router has 2.4GHz/5GHz intelligent switching, temporarily disable the 5GHz band during pairing.
    • Make sure the device is in pairing mode (WiFi indicator flashing) by pressing and holding the power button for 5 seconds.
    • Check that your WiFi password is entered correctly in the App.
  • Load not turning on/off as scheduled:
    • Verify the schedule settings in the Tuya Smart App.
    • Ensure the device has a stable WiFi connection.
    • Check the manual ON/OFF button on the device to ensure it's not overriding the schedule.
  • Device unresponsive:
    • Check the power supply to the device.
    • Attempt to reconfigure the WiFi connection (see Section 5).
    • If issues persist, contact customer support.

8. User Tips

  • Arduino Control: While the primary control is via the Tuya Smart App, some users may explore integration with platforms like Arduino. This typically requires advanced knowledge of IoT protocols and may involve custom firmware or API interactions.
  • 2.4GHz WiFi: Always ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network when initially pairing the switch. Many modern routers combine 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, which can sometimes cause issues during the initial setup. Temporarily separating or disabling the 5GHz band can help.
  • Power Button Functionality: The physical power button on the device can be used for both manual ON/OFF control and initiating the WiFi pairing mode. A short press toggles power, while a long press (5 seconds) enters pairing mode.
