  5. Power Off:
Long press the middle '#' button for more than 3 seconds during operation. The heating will stop, and the iron will enter sleep mode with the LED display off.

Advanced Functions

Temperature Calibration

If the displayed temperature differs from the actual measured temperature, you can calibrate the iron:

  1. In normal working state, press and hold the '-' and '+' buttons simultaneously for less than 5 seconds to enter calibration mode. The display will show a flashing value.
  2. Use the '+' button to increase the calibration value or the '-' button to decrease it. This value represents the temperature compensation (±99 units, where 1 unit is approximately 1°C or 1.8°F).
  3. Press the '-' button to save the setting. The system will automatically exit calibration mode after 5 seconds of inactivity and return to normal operation.

Sleep Setting

The soldering iron features an intelligent sleep function. When the iron is idle for a set period, it will enter sleep mode to conserve energy and prolong tip life. You can adjust the sleep settings:

  1. Press and hold the '-' button for 3-5 seconds to enter the function mode.
  2. Lightly press the '-' button to cycle through options until the sleep icon ('SLP') is displayed.
  3. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the sleep time (e.g., change the hundred, ten, or individual digit values).
  4. Press the '-' button again to save the setting.

Password Management

The soldering iron includes a password management feature to prevent unauthorized changes to settings.

Initial Password Setting:

  1. With the power disconnected, press and hold the '+' button, then connect the power. The LED display will show '---', indicating entry into password setting mode.
  2. The default initial password is '000'. To set a new password, use the '+' button to change the digit value and the '-' button to shift to the next digit.
  3. Once the desired password is set, press and hold the '-' button to confirm and exit.

Unlocking with Password:

If a password is set, you must enter it to access certain settings. The process involves holding the '+' button while powering on, then entering the correct password using the '+' and '-' buttons.

Forgotten Password Recovery:

If you forget your password, you can reset it:

  1. Follow the steps to enter password setting mode (hold '+' while plugging in).
  2. Enter the unlock password '123'. If correct, you can proceed to modify or clear the password.
  3. Alternatively, entering '321' will clear the original password to '000'.

Maintenance

  • Tip Cleaning: Regularly wipe the soldering tip on the damp cleaning sponge to remove oxidation and old solder. This helps maintain good heat transfer and extends tip life.
  • Tip Tinning: After cleaning and before storing, always 'tin' the tip with a fresh layer of solder to prevent oxidation.
  • Tip Replacement: When the soldering tip wears out or becomes damaged, replace it with a new one. Ensure the iron is unplugged and cool before attempting to replace the tip.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the soldering iron handle and body clean and free from dust and debris.
  • Storage: Store the soldering iron in a dry, safe place, away from moisture and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues & Solutions:

  • Iron not heating / Displaying 'H-3' or 'HE' error:
This often indicates an issue with the heating element or its connection.
    • Ensure the soldering tip is correctly installed and the retaining nut is tightened. Loose connections can cause this error.
    • Check if the heating element is properly seated.
    • If the issue persists, the heating element might be faulty and require replacement.
  • Temperature not stable or inaccurate:
    • Perform a temperature calibration as described in the 'Advanced Functions' section.
    • Ensure the soldering tip is clean and properly tinned. Oxidation can affect temperature accuracy.
  • Soldering iron not turning on:
    • Check the power connection and ensure the outlet is working.
    • Ensure you are long-pressing the '#' button for more than 3 seconds to power on.
  • Solder not melting easily:
    • Increase the temperature setting.
    • Clean and re-tin the soldering tip.
    • Ensure you are using appropriate solder for your application.

User Tips

  • Optimal Temperature: For best results and to protect the soldering tip, use the lowest effective temperature for your soldering task. Higher temperatures can degrade the tip faster.
  • Ventilation: Always work in a well-ventilated area. Soldering fumes can be harmful. Consider using a fume extractor or working near an open window.
  • Tip Care: Keep your soldering tip clean and tinned. A dirty or oxidized tip will not transfer heat efficiently, making soldering difficult.
  • Error H-3/HE: If you encounter an 'H-3' or 'HE' error, first check that the soldering tip and heating element are securely installed. If the issue persists, it may indicate a fault with the heating element.
  • Material Compatibility: While soldering irons are primarily for electronics, some users inquire about soldering iron and aluminum. Standard soldering irons are generally not suitable for aluminum without specialized flux and solder, and even then, it can be challenging.
