4. Package Contents

Upon opening the package, please verify that all components are present:

  • X-Printer D463B Series Thermal Label Printer (3-inch or 4-inch model)
  • Power Adapter

Note: The printer does not include labels or a label stand. These must be purchased separately.

5. Setup

5.1. Physical Connection

  1. Place the printer on a stable, flat surface.
  2. Connect the power adapter to the printer's DC IN port and then to a power outlet.
  3. Connect the USB cable to the printer's USB port and to your computer.

5.2. Loading Labels

  1. Open the printer cover by pressing the cover opening key.
  2. Place the label roll or fanfold labels into the label compartment. Ensure the labels are facing up and aligned with the guides.
  3. Adjust the label guides to fit the width of your labels snugly.
  4. Close the printer cover.

5.3. Driver Installation

For optimal performance, install the appropriate drivers for your operating system.

  1. Scan QR Code: Locate the QR code on the printer or packaging. Scan it to visit the official website for driver downloads.

5.4. Bluetooth Pairing (for compatible models and devices)

If your printer model supports Bluetooth and you wish to print wirelessly from a Windows computer or mobile device:

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Turn on the printer.
  3. Search for available Bluetooth devices on your computer/mobile device.
  4. Select the printer from the list and follow the pairing instructions.
  5. For mobile printing, download the 'XLabel' app (for 3-inch models) or refer to https://www.xprintertech.com/xprinter-application for the 4-inch model.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On/Off

Press the ON/OFF button located at the rear of the printer to power it on or off.

6.2. Status Indicator

The printer features a dual-color LED status indicator:

  • Blue Light: Indicates normal operation.
  • Red Light: Indicates an abnormal status or error.

6.3. Printing a Label

  1. Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to your device (via USB or Bluetooth).
  2. Open the document or application from which you wish to print.
  3. Select the X-Printer D463B Series printer from your printer options.
  4. Configure print settings such as label size, orientation, and number of copies as needed.
  5. Initiate the print command. The printer will automatically feed the label and begin printing.

6.4. Automatic Paper Feeding

The printer features automatic paper suction and first-sheet positioning. After loading labels, the printer will automatically adjust the label to the correct starting position, and automatically return to save paper.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your thermal label printer.

  • Cleaning the Print Head: Periodically clean the print head with an alcohol swab or a specialized print head cleaning pen. Ensure the printer is off and cooled down before cleaning.
  • Cleaning the Platen Roller: Wipe the platen roller with a damp, lint-free cloth to remove any adhesive residue or dust.
  • Dust Removal: Keep the printer free from dust and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean the interior and exterior of the printer.
  • Avoid Direct Sunlight/Heat: Do not expose the printer to direct sunlight or excessive heat, as this can affect print quality and printer components.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your printer, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

8.1. Printer Not Responding

  • Ensure the power cable is securely connected and the printer is turned on.
  • Check the USB or Bluetooth connection. Try reconnecting the cable or re-pairing the Bluetooth device.
  • Verify that the correct printer driver is installed and selected in your printing application.
  • Restart both the printer and your computer/mobile device.

8.2. Poor Print Quality

  • Check if the labels are loaded correctly and are of good quality.
  • Clean the print head as described in the Maintenance section.
  • Ensure the label type selected in your software matches the labels being used.
  • Adjust print density or darkness settings in your printer preferences.

8.3. Paper Jam or Incorrect Feeding

  • Open the printer cover and carefully remove any jammed labels.
  • Ensure the label roll or fanfold labels are properly seated and aligned within the guides.
  • Check for any obstructions in the paper path.
  • Make sure the label guides are adjusted to the correct width for your labels.

8.4. Printer Status Indicator is Red

  • A red light typically indicates an error. This could be due to a paper jam, out of labels, or an open cover.
  • Check the label compartment for any issues.
  • Refer to your operating system's printer status monitor for specific error messages.

9. User Tips

  • No Scanning Functionality: Please note that this thermal label printer does not support scanning functions. It is solely for printing.
  • Label Size Matching: Always ensure that the label size configured in your printing software matches the physical labels loaded into the printer to prevent errors and ensure accurate printing.
  • Driver Updates: Periodically check the official X-Printer website for updated drivers to ensure compatibility and optimal performance with the latest operating systems and software.
