Operating Instructions
Basic Operation
Power On/Off: Press the Power On/Off button (11) located at the bottom of the main unit to turn the device on or off.
Deploying the Sensor: Tie the wireless sonar sensor to the end of your fishing line and cast it into the water. Ensure it floats freely on the surface.

Figure 7: How to use the Fish Finder
Sonar Detection: Once in the water, the wireless sonar sensor will automatically activate and begin sending sound waves into the water. These sound waves reflect off the bottom, fish, and other underwater structures.
Data Transmission: The returned echoes are transmitted wirelessly to the main fish finder unit, which then processes and displays the information on its screen.
Understanding the Display
The 2-inch TN/ANTI-UV LCD screen provides clear visual information. Refer to the diagram below for an explanation of each indicator:

Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse both the main unit and the wireless sensor with fresh water. Wipe them dry with a soft cloth.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries from both the main unit and the wireless sensor if the device will not be used for an extended period. This prevents battery leakage and potential damage.
- Waterproof Seal: Always ensure the wireless sensor's battery cover is securely tightened to maintain its Level-4 (spray-water-proof) rating.
- Storage: Store the fish finder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Wireless Sensor Auto Shut-down: The wireless sensor is designed to automatically shut down when it is out of the water to conserve battery life.
Troubleshooting
Inaccurate or Repeated Sonar Readings
The fish finder is designed for use in outdoor deep water. Using it in smooth and hard places like water tanks, swimming pools, water buckets, or fish ponds can cause repeated sonar reception or inaccurate detection. Always test and use the device in appropriate outdoor deep water environments.
No Display or Power Issues
Check the batteries in both the main unit (4x AAA) and the wireless sensor (1x CR2032). Ensure they are inserted correctly with the right polarity and are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
No Fish Size Indication
Please note that the FFW1108-1 model does not display fish size. It indicates the presence and relative depth of fish.
Wireless Connection Issues
Ensure the wireless sensor is floating freely in the water and within the 400ft (120m) operational range of the main unit. Verify that the sensor's battery is functional and its cover is securely tightened. The FFW1108-1 operates only in wireless mode, and the sensor and monitor cannot be randomly matched with other units.
User Tips
- For best results, always use the fish finder in outdoor deep water. Avoid testing in confined or shallow spaces like buckets or pools, as this can lead to inaccurate readings.
- Ensure the wireless sensor's battery cover is always tightly screwed down to prevent water damage and ensure proper operation.
- Remember that the device is designed for aquatic environments. While it has a spray-water-proof rating, avoid submerging the main unit.
- Keep spare AAA and CR2032 batteries on hand for uninterrupted use during fishing trips.
