  1. Choose Installation Location: Select an area on your front windshield that provides an unobstructed view of the road. The recommended location is within the dotted area shown in the figure, considering your vehicle situation and driving habits.
  2. Clean the Area: Ensure the chosen area on the windshield is clean and dry to assist in adhesion.
  3. Attach the Bracket: Remove the protective film from the back of the bracket and firmly attach it to the cleaned area on the windshield.
  4. Route the Power Cable: Use the provided pry tool to carefully lift the edges of the windshield molding and tuck in the 3.5m power cable.
  5. Connect to Power: Connect the Dash Cam to the car charger (plugged into the cigarette lighter socket) using the power cable.
  6. Adjust Angle: After installation, adjust the angle of the Dash Cam. It is recommended to point the lens slightly downwards (approximately 10° below horizontal) to capture both the road and some of the vehicle's hood for context.

6. Operation

Automatic Recording

Once powered on, the Dash Cam will automatically begin recording. It does not require manual activation via the phone app each time you start your vehicle.

Voice-Activated Capture

The Pictrey M2 supports voice commands for hands-free operation. Simply use your voice to take photos or record videos, allowing you to capture important moments safely while driving without manual interaction.

Loop Recording

The Dash Cam continuously records. When the MicroSD card storage space is insufficient, the system automatically overwrites the earliest recorded videos to ensure uninterrupted recording.

24/7 Parking Monitoring

For continuous surveillance when your vehicle is parked, the M2 offers:

  • Time-Lapse Recording Mode: Continuously records at 1 frame per second, providing smooth, detailed footage that saves storage while capturing all details during long parking periods.
  • Collision Detection Mode: Automatically triggers high-definition recording upon detecting any impact, capturing critical moments precisely to safeguard your vehicle even when unattended.

Note: 24/7 Parking Monitoring requires an Intelligent Hardwire Kit (sold separately) for continuous power supply.

8. DDPAI App Instructions

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Pictrey M2 Dash Cam, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Dash Cam not recording: Ensure the MicroSD card is inserted correctly, is a Class 10 or higher, and has sufficient space. Check power connection.
  • Cannot connect to DDPAI App: Verify that the Dash Cam is powered on and your phone's Wi-Fi is enabled. Ensure you are within 2.5 meters of the device and have entered the correct Wi-Fi password (default: 1234567890).
  • Poor video quality: Check the lens for dirt or obstructions. Ensure the resolution settings in the app are set to 2K (2560x1440).
  • Parking Monitoring not working: Confirm that an Intelligent Hardwire Kit is installed and correctly connected to provide continuous power.
  • Cannot view previous videos: This could be due to the loop recording feature overwriting older files if the MicroSD card is full. Ensure your MicroSD card has enough capacity (up to 256GB supported).
  • Dash Cam does not have a battery: The Pictrey M2 uses a supercapacitor, not a traditional battery. It requires continuous power from the car's power supply to operate. The supercapacitor helps save the last recorded video file in case of sudden power loss.

For further assistance, please refer to the official DDPAI website or contact customer support.

10. User Tips

Here are some helpful tips for using your Pictrey M2 Dash Cam:

  • Optimal SD Card: Always use a high-quality MicroSD card (Class 10 or higher) with a capacity of up to 256GB for reliable 2K recording.
  • Regular Formatting: Periodically format your MicroSD card (e.g., once a month) through the DDPAI App to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption.
  • Hardwire Kit for Parking Monitoring: If you intend to use the 24/7 parking monitoring features, invest in an Intelligent Hardwire Kit for a stable power supply.
  • Voice Commands: Familiarize yourself with the voice commands for quick and safe operation while driving.
  • App Features: Explore the DDPAI App's features for real-time viewing, easy downloading, and convenient editing/sharing of your footage.
