3. Key Features

  • Mini Wireless Transmission System: Low latency and high-quality MIDI system designed for various musical applications.
  • Point-to-point MIDI Connection: Replaces traditional MIDI cables for a wireless and unconstrained experience.
  • Specific Protocol: Utilizes a new technology optimized for live performance, offering ultra-low latency, safe, and stable connections with long-distance wireless coverage.
  • Ultra-low Latency: Directly implements the wireless MIDI protocol in firmware, reducing latency to as low as 3 milliseconds through an optimized connection algorithm.
  • Safe and Stable: Engineered to establish a highly stable wireless connection.
  • Rechargeable MIDI-A: The MIDI-A unit features a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, chargeable via a USB cable, offering up to 48 hours of battery life. The MIDI-B unit is powered directly via its USB connection to an adapter or PC.
  • Better Shape Compatibility: Unique curved cable design ensures compatibility with even rare vertical MIDI interfaces.
  • Upgradable: Supports system upgrades via supporting software and a data cable.

4. Setup Instructions

  1. Identify Units: The system consists of two main units: MIDI-A (with IN and OUT plugs) and MIDI-B (USB dongle). The MIDI-A unit has a short cable connecting its IN and OUT plugs.
  2. Connect MIDI-A to Instrument:
    • Plug the 'IN' end of the MIDI-A unit into the MIDI IN port of your musical instrument (e.g., keyboard, drum machine).
    • Plug the 'OUT' end of the MIDI-A unit into the MIDI OUT port of your musical instrument.
  3. Power MIDI-A: Ensure the MIDI-A unit is charged. It has a built-in rechargeable battery. Use the provided USB cable to charge it if necessary.
  4. Connect MIDI-B (USB Dongle): Plug the MIDI-B USB dongle into a USB port on your computer, tablet, or a USB power adapter. This unit draws power directly from the USB port.
  5. Power On: Locate the ON/OFF switch on the MIDI-A unit and slide it to the 'ON' position.
  6. Automatic Connection: The M-Vave MS1 system is designed for plug-and-play operation. The MIDI-A and MIDI-B units should automatically establish a wireless connection. Indicators (usually LEDs) on the units will confirm successful connection.

5. Operating the System

Once the MIDI-A and MIDI-B units are successfully connected, your musical instrument's MIDI data will be transmitted wirelessly. The system supports various operating environments:

  • Instrument to Computer: Connect MIDI-B to your computer's USB port. Your instrument's MIDI data will be received by your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) or other music software.
  • Instrument to Mobile Device: Connect MIDI-B to a compatible mobile device (e.g., iOS/macOS devices) using an appropriate adapter (not included).
  • Instrument to Instrument: If both instruments are equipped with M-Vave MS1 systems, they can communicate wirelessly.

The system is designed to be 100% MIDI compliant and standalone, providing a completely wireless experience.

6. Maintenance

  • Charging: The MIDI-A unit contains a rechargeable lithium battery. Use the provided USB charging cable to connect it to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). A full charge provides up to 48 hours of operation.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the system in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Firmware Updates: The system is upgradable. Refer to the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates and instructions on how to use the supporting software and data cable for the upgrade process.

7. Troubleshooting

No MIDI signal or connection:
  • Ensure both MIDI-A and MIDI-B units are powered on.
  • Verify that MIDI-A is sufficiently charged.
  • Check that MIDI-A's 'IN' and 'OUT' plugs are correctly inserted into your instrument's MIDI IN and MIDI OUT ports, respectively.
  • Ensure MIDI-B is securely plugged into a powered USB port.
  • Confirm that the units are within the effective transmission range (≤10m) and there are no significant obstructions.
  • Check for any potential wireless interference from other 2.4GHz devices.
High latency or dropped notes:
  • Reduce the distance between the MIDI-A and MIDI-B units.
  • Minimize potential sources of wireless interference.
  • Ensure your instrument's MIDI settings are correctly configured.
Device not recognized by computer:
  • Try plugging MIDI-B into a different USB port.
  • Restart your computer and music software.
  • Check your computer's device manager or MIDI settings to ensure the M-Vave MS1 is listed and enabled.
  • Consider updating the system firmware if available (refer to Maintenance section).
