2. Setup Guide
2.1 Package Contents
Before you begin, ensure all items are present in the package:
- ZTE MC801A 5G CPE Router
- Power Adapter (Input: 12.0V === 1.5A)
- Ethernet Cable
- Quick Start Guide (if included)
2.2 Inserting the SIM Card
- Locate the SIM card slot at the bottom of the device.
- Insert a Nano-SIM card into the slot with the gold contacts facing down and the notched corner oriented correctly.
- Ensure the SIM card is fully seated.
2.3 Powering On the Device
- Connect the power adapter to the DC port on the router.
- Plug the other end of the power adapter into a power outlet.
- The router will automatically power on. The Power LED indicator on the front panel should light up.
2.4 Initial Network Connection
You can connect to the router via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.
2.4.1 Wi-Fi Connection
- On your computer or mobile device, search for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Select one of the default SSIDs (e.g., ZTE_5GCPE_05F7 or ZTE_5GCPE_05F7_5G) found on the device label (refer to Figure 3).
- Enter the default Wi-Fi password (KEY: BTA3563T67, also found on the device label) when prompted.
2.4.2 Ethernet Connection
- Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to a LAN port on the router.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your computer's Ethernet port.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 LED Indicators
The front panel of the router features several LED indicators to show the device's status:
- SIGNAL: Indicates the strength of the 5G/4G cellular signal.
- NETWORK: Indicates the status of the cellular network connection.
- WIFI: Indicates the status of the Wi-Fi network.
- POWER: Indicates the power status of the device.
3.2 Accessing the Device Manager
To configure advanced settings, manage connected devices, or change Wi-Fi settings, access the device manager:
- Open a web browser on a device connected to the router.
- Enter the default Device Manager Website address: 192.168.0.1 into the address bar.
- Log in using the credentials provided on the device label or in the quick start guide.
3.3 Using the WPS Function
The WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button allows for easy connection of WPS-compatible devices without entering the Wi-Fi password:
- Press the WPS button on the router (refer to Figure 4 or 5).
- Within two minutes, activate WPS on your client device (e.g., smartphone, laptop).
- The devices will automatically connect.
3.4 Phone (RJ11) Port
The RJ11 port can be used to connect a traditional landline phone for voice calls over the 5G network, if supported by your SIM card and service provider.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning the Device
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the router. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols, as they may damage the device.
4.2 Firmware Updates
Periodically check the device manager for available firmware updates. Keeping your router's firmware up-to-date ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Follow the on-screen instructions within the device manager to perform updates.
4.3 Resetting the Device
If the device is not functioning correctly, you may perform a factory reset. This will revert all settings to their default values.
- With the router powered on, use a pin or a straightened paperclip to press and hold the RESET button (refer to Figure 3) for approximately 5-10 seconds.
- Release the button when the LED indicators change or the device reboots.
- The router will restart with factory default settings. You will need to reconfigure your Wi-Fi settings if you changed them previously.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 No Internet Connection
- Check SIM Card: Ensure the Nano-SIM card is correctly inserted and active with a data plan.
- Signal Strength: Check the SIGNAL LED. If it's red or off, try moving the router to a location with better cellular reception.
- Network Status: Check the NETWORK LED. If it's not indicating a stable connection, there might be a network issue with your service provider.
- APN Settings: Verify the APN settings in the device manager. These are usually automatically configured but may need manual adjustment for some carriers.
5.2 Wi-Fi Not Available or Slow
- Power and Wi-Fi LED: Ensure the POWER and WIFI LEDs are on.
- Router Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions and other electronic devices that may cause interference.
- Number of Devices: The router supports up to 30 Wi-Fi users. Excessive connected devices or heavy usage can impact performance.
- Wi-Fi Settings: Check Wi-Fi settings in the device manager. Ensure the correct frequency band (2.4GHz or 5GHz) is selected for your devices.
5.3 Device Manager Inaccessible
- IP Address: Ensure you are using the correct IP address (192.168.0.1).
- Connection: Verify your device is connected to the router via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Browser Issues: Try a different web browser or clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- Router Reboot: Reboot the router by unplugging and replugging the power adapter.
