2. Safety Information

  • Always handle the device with care to prevent damage.

5. Setup

Software Installation

  1. Download Software: Obtain the NetumScan Pro installation software from the official website. You can find the link and QR code in the Quick Start Guide or by visiting: https://www.netum.net/pages/software-drivers.
  2. Install Software: Follow the on-screen instructions to install the NetumScan Pro software on your computer. Supported operating systems include Windows 7 SP1/8/8.1/10/11, macOS 10.15+, and various Linux distributions (Zxin UOS, Kylin, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora).

Hardware Connection

  1. Connect Scanner: Plug the document scanner into your computer using the provided USB cable. The scanner will automatically connect and be recognized under 'Cameras' in your operating system's Device Manager.
  2. Position Document: Place the document or object you wish to scan on the soft position pad, aligning it with the marked guides.

6. Operating Instructions

Starting the Software

To launch the NetumScan Pro Software, double-click its icon on your desktop, or navigate through the Start Menu (Windows) / Applications (Mac) / All apps (Linux) to select 'NetumScan Pro Software'.

Function Modes

Once the software is open, you can select from various function modes:

After selecting a function, you can adjust preferences in the settings menu and then click the [Scan] button to capture your material.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the scanner. For the lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, fold the scanner (if applicable) and store it in a cool, dry place away from dust and direct sunlight.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check the NETUM website for software updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  1. Cannot open the driver of NetumScan Pro software:

    Ensure the driver has been fully downloaded. Check the size of the driver file. If issues persist, ensure your computer's DirectX environment is up to date and repaired if necessary. Download DirectX Repair Tool: https://zhangyue667.lanzouh.com/DirectXRepairOnline.

  2. OCR recognition garbled:

    The OCR function works best with clear and standardized plain text. Patterns, special symbols, or complex content may reduce recognition accuracy.

  3. "Device is occupied" message when NetumScan Pro software opens:

    1. Check if other software is using the camera. In Windows 10/11, check camera privacy settings. 2. Unplug and re-plug the USB cable of the document camera. 3. If you have antivirus software, ensure camera permissions are granted or temporarily exit the antivirus software.

  4. Preview screen is blank:

    1. Unplug and re-insert the USB cable, connecting the camera to a rear USB port on the computer host. 2. Ensure antivirus software is not blocking the camera. Adjust settings or temporarily disable it. 3. Detect and repair your computer's DirectX environment.

  5. NetumScan Pro software cannot be opened or ejected after installation:

    Install the corresponding .NET Framework version as prompted by the software. Common versions include .NET Framework 4.0, 4.5.2, and 4.8.

  6. Software displays the wrong camera:

    Switch to the correct camera within the software's camera switching options. Alternatively, disable other cameras in Device Manager (under 'Image devices'). The scanner typically appears as 'NETUM Camera 2.0' or 'USB Camera 2.0'.

  7. Original photo effect issues (e.g., background color, black and white effect):

    Ensure necessary running conditions are met. You may need to download and install VC++ 2015: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145.

  8. Why the app does not work?

    This could be due to various reasons including software conflicts, outdated drivers, or system compatibility issues. Refer to the above troubleshooting steps, ensure your operating system is supported, and that all drivers are correctly installed. If the problem persists, contact customer support.
