3. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your JBD Smart BMS. Please follow these steps carefully:

  1. Connect B- Cable: Connect the main negative cable (B-) from your battery pack to the B- terminal on the BMS.
  2. Connect C- Cable: Connect the main negative cable for charging/discharging (C-) to the C- terminal on the BMS.
  3. Connect Balance Wires: Carefully connect the balance wires from your battery cells to the balance wire socket on the BMS. Ensure each wire corresponds to the correct cell voltage. The BMS automatically identifies 8-21S configurations.
  4. Connect NTC Temperature Sensors: Plug in the external NTC temperature sensors into their designated ports. The BMS includes one internal and two external temperature sensors for comprehensive monitoring.
  5. Connect Discharge Switch (Optional): If using a discharge switch, connect it to the discharge switch port on the BMS.
  6. UART Connection: The BMS has a UART port for communication with PC software or an LCD displayer (sold separately).

4. Operation

4.1 Mobile Application (XiaoxiangElectric App)

The JBD Smart BMS features built-in Bluetooth for wireless monitoring and control via the "XiaoxiangElectric" mobile app. This app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.

  1. Download the App: Scan the QR code or visit http://www.jiabaida.com/appdown/index.html to download the "XiaoxiangElectric" app.
  2. Connect via Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your BMS.
  3. Monitor Parameters: The app provides real-time data visualization, including State of Charge (SOC), voltage, current, temperature, differential pressure, alerts, and number of cycles.
  4. Adjust Parameters: You can modify various protection parameters and settings directly through the app interface.

4.2 PC Tool Software (JBD PC Tool Box)

For more detailed monitoring and advanced parameter configuration, the JBD PC Tool Box software can be used via the UART communication port.

  • No Power Output: Check all main power connections (B-, C-). Verify that the battery voltage is within the operational range and no protection (e.g., over-discharge) is active.

  • Unbalanced Cells: The BMS features idle equalization. Ensure the battery pack is allowed sufficient time for balancing, especially after charging. Monitor cell voltages via the app.
  • Overcurrent/Short Circuit Protection Triggered: Disconnect the load immediately. Identify and resolve the cause of the overcurrent or short circuit before reconnecting. The BMS will automatically reset or can be reset via the app/PC tool.
  • Temperature Alerts: Check the ambient temperature and ensure proper ventilation around the battery pack and BMS. Reduce load if temperatures are excessively high.
