Setup and Assembly

Your SAMEBIKE MY-SM26 may require some assembly upon arrival. Follow these general steps:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or returns.
  2. Front Wheel Installation: Attach the front wheel to the front fork, ensuring the disc brake rotor aligns correctly with the caliper. Secure with the quick-release skewer or axle nuts.
  3. Handlebar Installation: Mount the handlebar onto the stem, ensuring it is centered and the bolts are tightened securely. Adjust the angle for comfortable riding.
  4. Seat Post and Saddle: Insert the seat post into the frame's seat tube. Adjust the saddle height to allow for a slight bend in your knee when the pedal is at its lowest point. Secure with the quick-release lever.
  5. Pedal Installation: Identify the left (L) and right (R) pedals. The left pedal tightens counter-clockwise, and the right pedal tightens clockwise. Apply a small amount of grease to the threads before installation.
  6. Battery Installation: Insert the battery into its housing on the frame and lock it with the provided key. Ensure it is securely seated.
  7. Tire Inflation: Inflate both tires to the recommended pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.
  8. Brake Check: Test both front and rear brakes. Ensure they engage smoothly and stop the wheels effectively. Adjust cable tension if necessary.
  9. Gear Check: Shift through all 21 gears to ensure smooth transitions. Adjust the derailleur if needed.
  10. Final Inspection: Double-check all bolts, nuts, and quick releases for tightness. Ensure all cables are routed correctly and not pinched.

Battery Charging: Before your first ride, fully charge the battery. Connect the charger to the battery charging port and then to a power outlet. The charger indicator light will change when fully charged.

Display Functions (Refer to Figure 2):

  • CUR (Current): Displays real-time current draw.
  • SPEED: Shows current riding speed.
  • ODO (Odometer): Total distance traveled.
  • TRIP (Trip Distance): Distance traveled during the current ride.
  • PAS (Pedal Assist Level): Indicates the current level of motor assistance (e.g., 1-5).

Throttle Operation: The 'Speed-up rotating handle' (throttle) provides power on demand without pedaling. Twist the throttle to engage the motor. Use with caution, especially in crowded areas or on uneven terrain.

Headlight: Press the headlight button on the handlebar to turn the front light on or off. The headlight provides illumination up to 2 meters.

Gear Shifting: Use the Shimano 21-speed shifters on the handlebar to change gears. Shift smoothly and avoid shifting under heavy load to prolong the life of the drivetrain components.

Braking: The bike is equipped with disc brakes. Apply both brake levers gently and evenly to slow down or stop. Avoid sudden, hard braking, especially the front brake, to prevent skidding.

Riding on Various Roads: The MY-SM26 is designed for diverse conditions, including 25° slopes, narrow roads, stone roads, potholes, and grass. Always adjust your speed and riding style to suit the terrain and conditions.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your e-bike.

  • Battery Care:
    • Charge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to maintain its health.
    • Avoid completely draining the battery.
    • Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
    • The battery features overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, overpower, temperature, and short circuit protection.
    • Always use the original charger provided.
  • Tires: Check tire pressure before each ride. Maintain the recommended PSI for optimal performance and puncture resistance. Inspect tires for wear and damage.
  • Brakes: Regularly inspect brake pads for wear and replace them when necessary. Check brake levers for proper tension and responsiveness. Ensure disc rotors are clean and free from oil or grease.
  • Drivetrain (Chain, Gears): Keep the chain clean and lubricated. Regularly inspect the chain, cassette, and chainrings for wear. Adjust the derailleur if shifting becomes rough or inaccurate.
  • Frame and Components: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and fasteners for tightness. Clean the frame with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.
  • Suspension: Keep the front fork and rear shock absorber clean. If your front fork has a lock-out feature, ensure it functions correctly.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your SAMEBIKE MY-SM26.

Problem Possible Cause Solution
E-bike does not power on. Battery not charged, battery not properly seated, power cable loose. Ensure battery is fully charged and locked in place. Check all connections.
Motor not assisting. PAS level too low, throttle not engaged, brake levers engaged, system fault. Increase PAS level. Ensure brake levers are fully released. Check display for fault codes.
Brakes feel weak or spongy. Brake pads worn, cable tension too loose, air in hydraulic system (if applicable). Inspect and replace brake pads. Adjust brake cable tension. Consult a bike mechanic for hydraulic brake issues.
Gears are not shifting smoothly. Derailleur out of adjustment, dirty/dry chain, bent hanger. Clean and lubricate chain. Adjust front and rear derailleurs. Inspect derailleur hanger for damage.
Display shows a fault code. Specific system error. Refer to the display's fault diagnosis section (Figure 2) for specific codes and consult the manufacturer's support if the issue persists.

  • Pre-Ride Check: Always do a quick check of tire pressure, brake function, and battery level before each ride.
  • Gear and Assist: Use the gears in conjunction with the pedal assist levels. Shifting to a lower gear on inclines will make pedaling easier and reduce strain on the motor and battery.
  • Riding in Wet Conditions: While the bike is designed for various terrains, exercise extra caution in wet conditions as braking distance may increase and traction may decrease.
  • Security: Always lock your e-bike when leaving it unattended, even for short periods. Consider using multiple locks for added security.
