Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to install your M.2 SSD into the enclosure:
- Open the Aluminum Case: Use the provided screwdriver to remove the screw and slide open the aluminum cover.
- Insert SSD: Gently insert your M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD into the slot at a 45-degree angle. The enclosure is designed to hold the SSD securely without an additional SSD screw.
- Apply Thermal Pads: Place the silicone thermal pads onto the SSD chips to ensure efficient heat transfer to the aluminum case.
- Close the Case: Slide the aluminum cover back into place and secure it with the screw.

Operating Instructions
Connecting the Enclosure
Connect the JEYI SSD Enclosure to your computer or device using one of the provided USB 3.2 Gen 2 cables (USB-C to USB-C or USB-A to USB-C). The enclosure is plug-and-play, allowing for high-speed data transmission across various devices.
Smart Display Functions
The innovative visual smart screen displays real-time information about your SSD. You can touch the screen to cycle through different display modes:
- Disk Info: Shows SSD name, temperature, health, data read/write, and power-on hours.
- Disk Info (cont.): Displays power cycles and unsafe shutdowns.
- RD/Wr: Indicates read/write activity between the USB host and the SSD.
- Partition: Shows partition information (e.g., NTFS, capacity).

Re-connect Function
The JEYI enclosure features an exclusive re-connect function. If you safely eject the drive from your operating system, there is no need to physically unplug and re-plug the USB cable. Simply click the smart screen 3 times to reconnect the drive.

Write Protection
The enclosure supports a write protection feature to safeguard your data.
- To Enter Write Protection: Touch the screen 5 times. Then, re-plug the USB cable. The LED indicator will change from red to a static long blue light, indicating write protection is active.
- To Exit Write Protection: Touch the screen 5 times. Then, re-plug the USB cable. The LED indicator will change from a static long blue light back to red, indicating write protection is disabled.
Note: The write protection feature has a memory function. Once activated, it will remain in protected mode even after disconnecting and reconnecting, until you explicitly exit the function.

Sleep Mode
The enclosure enters sleep mode after 1 minute of inactivity to save energy. To exit sleep mode, perform a read action on the drive (e.g., open a file or folder).
Note: The sleep time can be modified via firmware updates.

LED Indicator Meanings
The enclosure features multi-color LED indicators to show its status:
- Connecting USB 2.0: Orange light for 5 seconds.
- Connecting USB 3.0 (5Gbps): Green light for 5 seconds.
- Connecting USB 3.2 (10Gbps): Purple light for 5 seconds.
- Write-protected: Remains in a static blue state.
- Reading/Writing: The light flashes rapidly in succession.
- Sleep Mode: Multi-color breathing light effect.
- After Safe Ejection (Standby): Breathing light effect (Orange for USB 2.0, Blue for USB 3.0, Purple for USB 3.1/3.2).

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your JEYI SSD Enclosure:
- Keep the enclosure clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
- Handle the enclosure with care to prevent physical damage.
- Ensure proper ventilation, especially during prolonged high-intensity use, to aid the aluminum case's heat dissipation.
Troubleshooting
- Drive Not Recognized: Ensure the SSD is correctly seated in the enclosure and the USB cable is securely connected to both the enclosure and your device. Try a different USB port or cable. Check Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to see if the drive is detected but uninitialized or unformatted.
- Slow Transfer Speeds: Verify that you are using a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port on your computer for optimal 10Gbps performance. Older USB 2.0/3.0 ports will result in slower speeds. Ensure your SSD is NVMe for maximum speed; SATA SSDs are limited to 6Gbps.
- Cannot Write to Drive (Write Protection): If you are unable to write data, the write protection feature might be active. Follow the instructions in the 'Operating Instructions' section to exit write protection mode. Remember to re-plug the cable after touching the screen 5 times.
- Enclosure Enters Sleep Mode Unexpectedly: The enclosure is designed to enter sleep mode after 1 minute of inactivity. To exit, simply perform a read action on the drive. If you wish to adjust the sleep time, check for available firmware updates or contact support.
- Overheating: While the aluminum case is designed for efficient cooling, prolonged heavy usage might still generate heat. Ensure the enclosure is placed in a well-ventilated area.
User Tips
- Maximize Speed: Always connect the enclosure to a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) port on your computer for the fastest data transfer rates, especially with NVMe SSDs.
- Convenient Re-connection: Utilize the 3-click screen re-connect feature after safely ejecting the drive to avoid repeatedly plugging and unplugging the cable.
- Data Security: Use the 5-click write protection feature when you need to prevent accidental data modification or deletion, especially when sharing the drive or accessing it on public computers.
- Monitor SSD Health: Regularly check the 'Disk Info' on the smart display to monitor your SSD's temperature, health, and power-on hours, helping you anticipate potential issues.
- Thermal Management: Ensure the thermal pads are correctly placed during installation to maximize heat dissipation and maintain optimal SSD performance and lifespan.
