5. Setup

5.1. Charging the Battery

The Mileseey PF3H comes with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Before first use, or when the battery indicator shows low power, charge the device using the provided USB cable.

  1. Locate the USB charging port on the device.
  2. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the rangefinder's charging port.
  3. Connect the larger end of the USB cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  4. The battery indicator will show charging status. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable.

5.2. Initial Power On

Press the 'SCREEN ON/OFF' button to power on the device. The display will light up, indicating it's ready for use.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Basic Distance Measurement

  1. Power on the device.
  2. Look through the eyepiece and aim the crosshairs at your target.
  3. Press the measurement button (usually the power button or a dedicated 'M' button) once.
  4. The distance to the target will be displayed on the screen.

6.2. Slope Compensation (PF280 Pro / PF3H)

The PF3H model features a special angle switch design to enable or disable slope compensation. This is crucial for golf tournaments where slope-adjusted distances are not permitted.

  1. To enable slope compensation, slide the switch to the 'SLOPE ON' position. The device will calculate and display the slope-adjusted distance.
  2. To disable slope compensation, slide the switch to the 'SLOPE OFF' position. The device will display the actual linear distance, making it legal for tournament play.

6.3. Golf Scanning & Flagpole Lock

This mode helps you quickly and accurately measure the distance to the flagpole, even with background objects.

  1. Activate Golf Scanning mode (refer to your device's specific button layout for mode switching).
  2. Scan the area around the flagpole. The device will automatically identify and lock onto the flag, excluding other objects.
  3. A vibration alert (PF280 Pro only) will confirm the lock, and the distance will be displayed.

  • Device does not power on:
    • Check if the battery is charged. Recharge if necessary.
    • Ensure the power button is pressed firmly.
  • Inaccurate measurements:
    • Ensure the target is within the device's measurement range.
    • Clean the lenses with the provided cloth.
    • Make sure there are no obstructions between the rangefinder and the target.
    • Verify that the correct measurement mode is selected (e.g., slope ON/OFF).
  • Display is dim or unclear:
    • Adjust the eyepiece focus.
    • Check battery level; low battery can affect display brightness.
    • Ensure the device is not exposed to extreme temperatures.
  • No vibration alert (PF280 Pro only):
    • Ensure the device is in a mode that supports vibration (e.g., Flagpole Lock).
    • Check if the feature is enabled in settings (if applicable).

If the problem persists, please contact customer support.

9. User Tips

  • Steady Hand: For the most accurate readings, try to keep your hand as steady as possible when taking measurements. Using a stable surface or bracing your arm can help.
  • Targeting Small Objects: When targeting small objects like flagpoles, use the flagpole lock feature to ensure the laser locks onto the intended target and not background elements.
  • Environmental Factors: Be aware that extreme weather conditions (heavy rain, dense fog) can affect the accuracy and range of the laser.
  • Tournament Play: Always remember to switch the slope compensation OFF when playing in official tournaments to comply with rules.
  • Battery Life: To extend battery life, power off the device when not in active use.
