Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install your Vjoycar HUD:

  1. Locate OBDII Interface: Find your vehicle's OBDII interface. It is usually located under the dashboard, near the steering wheel.
  2. Route the Cable: Carefully route the OBD2 cable from the interface to the desired mounting position for the HUD unit, ensuring it does not interfere with driving controls.
  3. Connect HUD: Plug the OBD2 cable into the HUD host.
  4. Secure HUD: Place the HUD host on the dashboard using the provided non-slip pad to ensure it is stable and does not move during driving.
  5. Apply Reflective Film (Optional): For optimal display clarity, especially in bright conditions, stick the reflective film onto the windshield directly above the HUD unit. Ensure the film is clean and free of bubbles.

Operating Instructions

The Vjoycar HUD features a user-friendly interface with a main button for navigation and adjustments. The device will automatically power on and display information after starting the car.

Menu Navigation and Value Adjustment:

The HUD has a main button (often referred to as a scroll wheel or push button) that allows you to navigate through settings and adjust values. The user manual (included in the package) provides a detailed comparison table for menu items and their corresponding values.

  • Entering Settings Mode: Long push the main button inward to enter the settings mode.
  • Changing Menu Items: While in settings mode, push the button inward to cycle through menu options.
  • Adjusting Values: For a selected menu item, push the button left or right to change its value.
  • Exiting Settings: Long push the button inward again to save changes and exit the settings mode.

Example Adjustments:

Changing Speed Unit (KM/H to MPH):

  1. Long push the main button inward to enter settings mode.
  2. Push the button inward repeatedly until you reach the "Speed Unit" setting (Menu item 22).
  3. Push the button left or right to change the value from '0' (KM/H) to '1' (MPH).
  4. Long push the button inward to save and exit.

Calibrating Speed:

If the HUD speed display differs from your car's actual speed (e.g., car speed 80km/h, HUD 75km/h), you can adjust the speed value:

  1. Long push the main button inward to enter settings mode.
  2. Push the button inward repeatedly until you reach the "Speed" setting (Menu item 0).
  3. Push the button left or right to adjust the value (e.g., from 105 to 100 to match the car's speed).
  4. Long push the button inward to save and exit.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • HUD does not power on: Ensure the OBD2 cable is securely connected to both the HUD unit and the vehicle's OBDII port. Check vehicle ignition status.
  • Inaccurate Speed Display: Refer to the "Calibrating Speed" section under Operating Instructions to adjust the speed value.
  • Display is too dim/bright: The HUD features automatic brightness adjustment. If manual adjustment is preferred, enter settings mode and navigate to the "Brightness" setting (Menu item 8) to adjust the level (1-11).
  • No Display or Partial Display: Check the reflective film placement. Ensure the HUD unit is positioned correctly.
  • Incompatibility with Vehicle: The OBD2 working mode may not be compatible with certain vehicles. This includes almost 98% of cars manufactured before 2004, some old oil/electric hybrid cars, diesel-powered cars, pickup trucks, SUVs, ORVs, mini buses, and a few other special car models.
  • RPM Alarm Flashing: This indicates the engine RPM has exceeded the set alarm value.
  • Coolant Alarm Flashing: This indicates the engine coolant temperature has exceeded the set alarm value.
