1. Introduction

The XINOWY V8 / V8 SV Bluetooth Motorcycle Helmet Headset Intercom is designed to provide clear and reliable communication for motorcyclists. It supports real-time intercom function for up to 5 riders, allowing for seamless group communication during rides. The device also offers Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones, enabling hands-free calls, music streaming, and GPS navigation audio. Key features include FM radio, waterproof design, noise reduction, NFC, and GPS support.

Note: The V8 model includes a remote control, while the V8 SV model does not. Please verify your product model to understand included accessories.

2. Product Overview

2.1 Host Unit Controls

  1. On/Power Button: Used to turn the intercom on/off, answer/decline/end phone calls, and control music playback (play/pause).
  2. Off Button: Used to turn off the intercom.
  3. Volume Down Button: Decreases volume, changes FM radio frequency down, or skips to the previous song (long press on remote).
  4. Volume Up Button: Increases volume, changes FM radio frequency up, or skips to the next song (long press on remote).
  5. Rider B Mode Button: Used for pairing with other intercoms.
  6. FM Radio / Rider A Mode Button: Activates/deactivates FM radio function, used for pairing with other intercoms.
  7. Earphone and Charge Plug: Port for connecting earphones and charging cable.
  8. Deck: Mounting point for the helmet clamp.

2.2 Remote Control (Optional for V8 model)

  1. Music On/Off, Phone Button: Controls music playback (on/off), answers/ends calls.
  2. Rider A Mode Button: Used for intercom pairing.
  3. Rider B Mode Button: Used for intercom pairing.
  4. Volume Up Button: Increases volume.
  5. Volume Down Button: Decreases volume.

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Installing the Intercom on Your Helmet

  1. Attach the Clamp: Securely install the product fastener (clamp) onto the side of your helmet. Ensure it is firmly attached.
  2. Mount the V8 Unit: Buckle the V8 intercom unit onto the clamp in the direction indicated in the picture.
  3. Install Earphone and Microphone: Carefully install the earphone and microphone inside the helmet, positioning the microphone near your mouth and earphones over your ears for optimal sound.

3.2 Earphone Connection

Connect the earphone and microphone cable to the designated port on the host unit. Ensure a secure connection.

4. Operation

4.1 Power On/Off the Host Unit

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power button for about 2 seconds. The red light will turn on. Release the button when the blue light flashes. The unit is now in ON mode.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button until the unit turns off.

4.2 Pairing the Host Unit with a Mobile Phone/MP3/GPS Device

  • With the host unit OFF, press and hold the Power button for 3-5 seconds. The red and blue lights will flash alternately, indicating pairing mode.
  • On your mobile phone/MP3/GPS device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  • Select "V8" from the list of devices displayed on your phone.
  • Once paired, the red light on the V8 unit will turn off, and the blue light will flash rhythmically.
  • NFC Function (for compatible phones): Enable NFC on your phone. Bring the host unit close to the phone. It will automatically identify and pair. Once paired, it will automatically connect next time.

4.3 Pairing Two V8 Intercoms

  1. Ensure both V8 units are in ON mode.
  2. On both units, simultaneously long-press the 'A' button and 'B' button for 5-7 seconds. The red and blue lights will flash alternately.
  3. Then, press the 'A' button on either V8 unit. The red light on that unit will turn off, and the blue light will flash, indicating it's searching for pairing.
  4. After approximately 5-7 seconds, the red light on the other V8 unit will also turn off, and the blue light will flash. This indicates successful pairing.
  5. After a short press on either 'A' button, you can enter intercom status.

4.4 Pairing the Remote Controller with the Host Unit (V8 Model Only)

  • After correctly installing batteries in the remote controller and tightening the nut, the remote controller will automatically start.
  • With both the remote controller and host unit ON, simultaneously press the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons on the host unit. The blue light will turn on normally after about 2 seconds.
  • On the remote controller, first short press the Phone button to activate it. Then, press any two buttons simultaneously for 3-5 seconds.
  • When the blue lights on the remote controller flash, it indicates successful connection between the host and remote controller.
  • Effective remote-controlled distance: 10 meters.

4.5 Intercom Function for 5 Riders

The V8 / V8 SV supports real-time intercom function for up to 5 riders. Different brands can also be linked for convenient fleet travel.

  • Clearing Pairing Records: Before pairing multiple devices, with the units ON, long-press the 'A' and 'B' buttons simultaneously to clear previous pairing records.
  • Connecting 5 Devices: After clearing records, double-click the first device and press 'A' for the initial connection. The machine will then complete connections among all 5 devices.
  • Exiting Intercom (Devices 2, 3, 4): If any of Device 2, 3, or 4 wants to exit intercommunication, press the Phone button once. To re-enter, press 'A' once, then 'B'.
  • Exiting Intercom (Device 1): If Device 1 exits, press 'A' once to return to intercommunication.
  • Exiting Intercom (Device 5): If Device 5 exits, press 'B' once to return to intercommunication.
  • Mobile Phone Connection in 5-person Intercom: Only Device 1 and Device 5 can be connected to a mobile phone in this mode.
  • Intercom Status Indicators: During intercommunication, a red LED flashes for Conversion A, and a blue LED flashes for Conversion B.

4.6 Phone Call Operations (Host Unit)

  • Answer a Call: When an incoming call rings for about 6 seconds, the host unit will automatically answer it.
  • Decline a Call: During an incoming call, within 5 seconds of ringing, short press the Power button to decline it.
  • End a Call: During a call, short press the Power button to end it.
  • Call Last Number: In standby mode, long press the Power button for about 2 seconds to automatically call the last number in your call log.
  • Voice Control: Double-click the Power button to enter voice control mode. Double-click again to exit.

4.7 Music and FM Radio Operations (Host Unit)

  • Music On/Off: In MP3 play mode, short press the Power button to pause/play music.
  • Volume Control: During a phone call or music playback, short press Volume Up (+) to increase volume, and short press Volume Down (-) to decrease volume.
  • FM Radio Function: After startup, connect earphones. Long press the 'A' mode button for 3 seconds to enable radio. Short press 'A' again to disable.
  • Frequency Modulation: In radio mode, short press Volume Up (+) or Volume Down (-) to automatically search radio stations.
  • Radio Volume Regulation: In radio mode, long press Volume Up (+) to gradually increase volume; long press Volume Down (-) to gradually reduce volume.

4.8 Operations with Remote Controller (V8 Model Only)

  • Decline a Call: During an incoming call, within 5 seconds of ringing, short press the Phone button on the remote controller.
  • End a Call: During a call, short press the Phone button on the remote controller.
  • Call Last Number: Long press the Phone button on the remote controller to automatically call the last number.
  • Music Control: Short press the Phone button on the remote controller to pause/play music.
  • Next Song: Long press the Volume Down (-) button on the remote controller.
  • Previous Song: Long press the Volume Up (+) button on the remote controller.
  • Volume Control: Short press Volume Up (+) to increase volume, and short press Volume Down (-) to decrease volume.
  • Radio Operations: Long press the 'A' mode button for 3 seconds to enable radio. Short press 'A' again to disable.
  • Reconnection of Paired Devices: Long press the Phone button on the remote controller to automatically connect paired Bluetooth devices.

5. User Tips

  • Model Difference: Remember that the V8 model includes a remote control, while the V8 SV model does not. Confirm your purchase to ensure you have the expected accessories.
  • Helmet Compatibility: The headset is compatible with various helmet types, including half helmet, modular, open face, and flip-up helmets.
  • Package Check: Upon receiving your order, carefully check the package contents against the product description, especially if you ordered the V8 model with a remote control.
  • Pairing Multiple Devices: When pairing multiple intercoms, ensure all units are powered on and follow the specific A/B button sequence for successful connection.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the intercom in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, charge the device regularly, even if not in frequent use. Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods.
  • Water Resistance: While the device is 5-grade waterproof, avoid submerging it in water or exposing it to heavy rain for prolonged periods. Ensure all ports are properly sealed.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Turning On: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source using the USB charging cable.
  • Pairing Issues: Make sure both devices (host and phone/remote/other intercom) are in pairing mode (red and blue lights flashing alternately). Clear previous pairing records if necessary by long-pressing A and B buttons simultaneously.
  • No Sound/Low Volume: Check the volume levels on both the intercom and your connected device. Ensure the earphones are properly plugged in and positioned correctly inside the helmet.
  • Intercom Disconnection: Ensure devices are within the effective communication range (up to 1200m). Re-pair the intercoms if the connection is lost.
  • Remote Control Not Responding (V8 only): Check if the remote control batteries are correctly installed and charged. Ensure the remote is successfully paired with the host unit.
