3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Upon receiving your Nohawk Laser Rangefinder, carefully unpack all components. Verify that all accessories listed in the product description are present. Inspect the device for any visible damage. If any damage is found, do not use the device and contact customer support.

Figure 21: Product Accessories
3.2 Battery Installation / Charging
- For models using CR-2 (3V) batteries (e.g., NK, NF, H3D, HD-NY): Open the battery compartment, insert a fresh CR-2 (3V) battery, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
- For rechargeable models (e.g., NK-GOLF, NKM, 3M02, NP): Connect the device to a USB power source using the provided USB cable. The charging indicator will typically light up during charging and change color or turn off when fully charged. Rechargeable models feature a built-in 1000mAh lithium battery.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
Press the Power button (refer to Figure 9 for H3D model button layout) to turn on the device. The display will activate. To turn off, press and hold the Power button, or the device may automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.
4.2 Switching Measurement Units (Meters/Yards)
To switch between Meters (M) and Yards (Y), press and hold the measurement button and the 'M' button (or equivalent mode button) simultaneously for 2 seconds. Some models may also support Feet (F).
4.3 General Measurement (Ranging Mode)
Point the rangefinder at the target. Press the measurement button once to activate the laser and obtain a distance reading. The measured distance will be displayed on the screen.
4.4 Golf Mode with Flag-Lock and Slope Compensation
In Golf mode, the device can compensate for slope to provide an adjusted distance. Many models also feature Flag-Lock with vibration to confirm that the flagpole has been accurately targeted.

Figure 22: Slope Compensation Diagram
To trigger vibration and flagpole lock (for models with this feature): Single ranging will not trigger vibration and flagpole lock. When the measured object (flagpole) overlaps the background, the single ranging mode cannot accurately identify the flagpole. You need to press and hold the measurement button to enter the scanning measurement mode, scan the background and then the flagpole. When the flagpole is recognized and locked, the flagpole icon flashes, the rangefinder vibrates, and displays the measurement data.

4.5 Other Measurement Modes (Model Dependent)
Depending on your specific model, your rangefinder may include additional modes:
- Scan Mode: Allows continuous measurement as you pan across multiple targets.
- Speed Measurement Mode: Measures the speed of a moving object.
- Altitude/Vertical Distance: Measures the vertical height difference between two points.
- Horizontal Distance: Measures the horizontal distance to a target, often in conjunction with angle.
- Two-point Height Measurement: Calculates the height of an object by measuring its top and bottom.
- Closest/Farthest Distance Mode (FA/CL): Helps to filter out obstacles and focus on the desired target.
- Area/Volume Measurement Mode (NP Model): For these modes, please refer to the detailed instructions provided with your specific model or contact customer service for guidance.

Figure 25: Multiple Measurement Modes
4.6 Voice Broadcast (NP Model)
The NP model features intelligent voice broadcast, allowing you to receive measurement data audibly without constantly looking at the screen. This feature can be switched between voice and mute as desired.
5. Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Use a soft, clean cloth (like the one provided) to gently wipe the lenses and the body of the rangefinder. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
- Storage: Store the device in its protective case in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures and high humidity.
- Battery Care: For models using replaceable batteries, remove the battery if the device will not be used for an extended period. For rechargeable models, ensure regular charging to maintain battery health.
- Water Resistance: While designed for outdoor use, specific IP ratings may vary by model. Avoid submerging the device in water.
6. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Check battery installation (for CR-2 models) or ensure the rechargeable battery is charged.
- Inaccurate measurements: Ensure the target is within the specified range of your model. Clean the lenses. Ensure stable aiming.
- Display issues: If the display is dim or flickering, the battery may be low. Recharge or replace the battery.
- Flag-lock not working: Ensure you are in the correct mode and following the scanning procedure (scan background, then flagpole).
- No vibration (for models with vibration): Check if the vibration function is enabled in settings (if applicable) or if the model you have supports vibration.
