Setup

The MC103-Pro offers two primary connection modes: 3-IN-1-OUT and 1-IN-3-OUT. Ensure all audio equipment is powered off before making connections.

3-IN-1-OUT Configuration

In this mode, you can connect up to three stereo XLR audio sources (e.g., DVD player, CD player, Decoder) to the MC103-Pro, and output the selected source to a single stereo XLR destination (e.g., an amplifier).

  1. Connect your first stereo XLR audio source to the "X" input ports (Left and Right) on the rear panel of the MC103-Pro.
  2. Connect your second stereo XLR audio source to the "Y" input ports (Left and Right).
  3. Connect your third stereo XLR audio source to the "Z" input ports (Left and Right).
  4. Connect your stereo XLR amplifier or other audio destination to the "I/O" output ports (Left and Right).

1-IN-3-OUT Configuration

In this mode, you can connect a single stereo XLR audio source (e.g., a Decoder) to the MC103-Pro, and output that source to up to three different stereo XLR destinations (e.g., multiple amplifiers).

  1. Connect your stereo XLR audio source to the "I/O" input ports (Left and Right) on the rear panel of the MC103-Pro.
  2. Connect your first stereo XLR amplifier or other audio destination to the "X" output ports (Left and Right).
  3. Connect your second stereo XLR amplifier or other audio destination to the "Y" output ports (Left and Right).
  4. Connect your third stereo XLR amplifier or other audio destination to the "Z" output ports (Left and Right).

The MC103-Pro is a passive device and does not require external power. Ensure all XLR cables are securely connected to prevent signal loss or noise.

Operating Instructions

Once the MC103-Pro is connected according to your desired configuration, operation is straightforward:

  1. Power On Devices: Turn on your audio sources and destination devices (e.g., amplifiers).
  2. Select Input/Output: Use the large rotary knob on the front panel of the MC103-Pro to select the desired input (X, Y, or Z in 3-IN-1-OUT mode) or output (X, Y, or Z in 1-IN-3-OUT mode). The knob will click into place for each selection.
  3. Audio Playback: Begin playing audio from your selected source. The audio will be routed through the MC103-Pro to your chosen destination.

Since the MC103-Pro is a passive switcher, it does not add any coloration or degradation to the audio signal. The selection is purely mechanical, ensuring a clean signal path.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Douk Audio MC103-Pro, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the device. Avoid using liquid cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
  • Environment: Keep the device in a clean, dry environment, away from excessive dust, moisture, and direct sunlight.
  • Connections: Periodically check all XLR cable connections to ensure they are secure. Loose connections can lead to signal issues or noise.
  • Handling: Handle the device with care. While the aluminum shell is robust, dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts can cause damage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MC103-Pro, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No audio output
  • Incorrect knob selection.
  • Loose or faulty XLR cables.
  • Audio source or destination device is off or malfunctioning.
  • Ensure the selector knob is set to the correct input/output (X, Y, or Z).
  • Check all XLR cable connections for tightness. Try replacing cables if suspected faulty.
  • Verify that your audio source and destination devices are powered on and functioning correctly.
Humming or buzzing noise (common ground noise)
  • Ground loop interference between connected devices.
  • Add an audio isolation module between the MC103-Pro and the device experiencing the ground noise.
  • Ensure all audio equipment is plugged into the same power outlet or power strip to minimize ground potential differences.
Intermittent audio
  • Loose connections.
  • Damaged cables.
  • Check and secure all XLR connections.
  • Inspect cables for any visible damage and replace if necessary.
