- Data Retention Symbol (HOLD): Appears when the data hold function is active.
- Temperature Measurement Reading: Displays the measured grain temperature.
- Temperature Measurement Unit Symbol: Shows the current temperature unit (°F or °C).
- Moisture Setting: Indicates the current moisture setting or grain type.
- Symbol of Excessive Moisture: Appears if moisture content exceeds the set standard.
- Moisture Measurement Reading: Displays the measured grain moisture percentage.
- Moisture Percentage Symbol (%): Indicates the unit for moisture measurement.
- Grain Variety Generation (1-8): Shows the selected grain type (e.g., 1 for Unhusked Rice, 2 for Wheat, etc.).
4.2. Power On/Off
- Press the Power button (central button with a circle and line) to turn the device ON.
- To turn OFF, press and hold the Power button for a few seconds, or the device will auto power-off after 5 minutes of inactivity.
4.3. Grain Type Selection
The GM640 supports measurement for various grain types:

- Press the SELECT button to cycle through the available grain types (indicated by the 'Grain Variety Generation' number on the display).
- Choose the grain type that matches the material you are measuring.
4.4. Performing a Measurement
To ensure accurate readings, follow these operating essentials:

- Ensure both probes are inserted vertically into the grain sample.
- Insert the two probes quickly into the material.
- Maintain a consistent measurement method each time for reliable results.
- After insertion, wait for the second repeated reading on the instrument to stabilize. This stable reading is your measured standard value.
4.5. Data Hold Function
- Press the HOLD button to freeze the current measurement on the display. The 'HOLD' symbol will appear.
- Press the HOLD button again to release the data hold and resume live readings.
4.6. Backlight Control

5. Maintenance
5.1. Cleaning
- Wipe the device and probe with a dry, soft cloth after each use to remove any dust or grain residue.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the device.
5.2. Storage
- Store the GM640 in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- The device features a split protective rubber shell that can be easily disassembled for cleaning or maintenance, and protects the instrument from injury.

6. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Check if batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure the probes are clean and fully inserted into the grain. Verify that the correct grain type is selected.
- "Overflow Alarm" displayed: The moisture content may be outside the measurement range (5%~30%).
- Display is dim or unreadable: Activate the backlight function. If the issue persists, check battery level.
