2. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your thermal printer:

  1. Unpack the Printer: Carefully remove the printer and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components are present: the printer unit, power adapter, and connection cable (USB, Bluetooth, or RS232 depending on model).
  2. Load Thermal Paper:
    • Open the paper cover by pressing the release latch.
    • Insert a roll of 57.5 ± 0.5mm thermal receipt paper, ensuring the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll and the leading edge extends slightly out of the printer.
    • Close the paper cover firmly until it clicks into place.
  3. Connect Power: Connect the provided 12V/2A power adapter to the printer's power input port and then plug the adapter into a suitable 110V or 220V (depending on your model) power outlet.
  4. Connect to Device:
    • USB Connection: Connect one end of the USB cable to the printer's USB port and the other end to your computer or compatible device.
    • Bluetooth Connection: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your host device. Refer to your device's manual for pairing instructions. The printer supports multi-Bluetooth connection.
    • RS232 Connection: Connect the RS232 cable to the printer's RS232 port and your host device's serial port.
    • Cashbox Connection (Optional): If using a cashbox, connect the RJ11-6P6C socket cable from the cashbox to the printer's cashbox control port.
  5. Install Drivers: Install the appropriate drivers for your operating system. Drivers are available for Windows (WIN7/WIN8/WIN10/Vista/XP/2000), Ubuntu (12.04 32/64, 14.04 32/64), and MAC OS. Follow the driver installation instructions provided with the software.

3. Operating Instructions

Once the printer is set up and drivers are installed, you can begin printing:

  1. Power On: Press the power button on the printer. The power indicator light should illuminate.
  2. Send Print Command: From your application (e.g., FLB series balance software), send the print command. The printer is compatible with POS/ESC command set.
  3. Printing Process: The printer will use thermal line printing at a speed of 100mm/s to produce the receipt. It supports various character sets (User-defined, GB18030, ASCII, English, Japanese, and 45 international sets) and graphics printing, including raster bitmap and downloaded images.
  4. Paper Out Detection: The printer features a paper out detection function. If the paper runs out, printing will stop, and an indicator will alert you. Replace the paper roll as described in the Setup section.
  5. Manual Paper Cutting: After printing, manually tear the receipt against the serrated edge.

4. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your thermal printer:

  • Cleaning the Print Head: Regularly clean the thermal print head to prevent print quality issues. Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Ensure the printer is powered off and cool before cleaning.
  • Replacing Paper: Always use high-quality thermal receipt paper with a width of 57.5 ± 0.5mm and a maximum roll diameter of 50mm. Refer to the 'Load Thermal Paper' step in the Setup section for replacement instructions.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the printer within the specified work environment temperature of 0~45°C and dampness of 10~80%. For storage, maintain a temperature of -10~60°C and dampness of 10~90%.
  • TPH Life: The Thermal Print Head (TPH) has a life expectancy of 50km of printing. Regular cleaning can help maintain its performance.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your printer, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the printer and a working power outlet.
    • Verify the power outlet is functional.
  • No Printing / Blank Output:
    • Check if the thermal paper is loaded correctly and not upside down. Thermal paper has a specific side for printing.
    • Ensure there is enough paper in the roll. The printer has a 'paper out' detection function.
    • Verify the printer is connected to the host device (computer/analyzer) via USB, Bluetooth, or RS232.
    • Confirm that the correct printer drivers are installed and selected in your application.
    • Restart both the printer and the host device.
  • Poor Print Quality:
    • Clean the thermal print head as described in the Maintenance section.
    • Ensure you are using good quality thermal paper. Old or low-quality paper can affect print clarity.
  • Connectivity Issues (USB/RS232):
    • Try a different USB or RS232 port on your host device.
    • Test with a different cable if available.
  • Connectivity Issues (Bluetooth):
    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the printer and the host device.
    • Re-pair the printer with your host device.
    • Check for any interference from other wireless devices.
