4. Setup

Assembly Steps:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and verify against the 'Package Contents' list.
  2. Assemble the Frame: Connect the front, rear, left Y-axis, right Y-axis, and X-axis frames using the provided screws and Allen keys. The design ensures each cable has the correct length for its position, simplifying the process.
  3. Install the Control Box: Attach the control box to the designated location on the frame.
  4. Attach the WiFi Aerial: Screw the WiFi aerial into the control box for wireless connectivity.
  5. Mount the Laser Module: Secure the laser module to the X-axis frame using the thumb screws. Connect the laser module cable to the control box.
  6. Install Limit Switches: Attach the limit switches to their mounting plates and install them on the frame.
  7. Install Timing Belts: Carefully route and install the timing belts for the X and Y axes.
  8. Attach Support Feet: Secure the four support feet to the bottom of the frame.
  9. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the control box and then into a power outlet.
  10. Connect USB (Optional): If using a wired connection, connect the USB cable from the control box to your computer.

5. Operating Instructions

The AlgoLaser DIY Kit offers flexible control options for your engraving and cutting projects.

5.1. Powering On and Initial Setup

  1. Insert Key: Insert the key into the key lock on the control box and turn it to the 'ON' position.
  2. Press Power Button: Press the 'Power' button to turn on the machine. The status indicators should light up.
  3. Emergency Stop: Familiarize yourself with the red 'Emergency Stop' button for immediate shutdown if needed.

5.2. Software and Connectivity

  • Mobile APP Control: Download the AlgoLaser App (supports Android/Mac cellphone/iPad). Connect via WiFi for easy offline control.

5.3. Focusing the Laser

Achieving optimal focus is crucial for precise engraving and cutting. Use the provided Focus Assist tool.

  1. Place the Focus Assist tool under the laser module.
  2. Adjust the laser module's height until the bottom of the module touches the top of the Focus Assist tool.
  3. Tighten the thumb screws to secure the laser module in place.

5.4. Engraving and Cutting

The AlgoLaser DIY Kit can engrave and cut a wide range of materials with high accuracy and speed (up to 12000mm/min).

Examples of laser engraving and cutting on 3.5mm black acrylic, 5mm basswood plywood, and 2mm leather, showcasing the machine's excellent performance.

NOTE: Transparent materials cannot be cut or engraved directly. Their surface needs to be covered with an opaque coating (e.g., paint, tape) before processing.

5.5. Using the Rotary Device (Optional)

For engraving cylindrical objects like bottles or glasses, an optional rotary device can be used. Ensure the rotary device is properly installed and configured in your software according to its specific instructions.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your AlgoLaser DIY Kit.

  • Clean the Laser Lens: Periodically clean the laser lens with a soft, lint-free cloth and lens cleaning solution to maintain beam quality.
  • Clean the Machine: Use a soft brush (like the one provided) or compressed air to remove dust and debris from the machine's frame, rails, and moving parts.
  • Check Belts: Inspect the timing belts for any signs of wear or looseness. Adjust tension if necessary.
  • Lubricate Rails: Apply a small amount of appropriate lubricant to the linear rails occasionally to ensure smooth movement.
  • Inspect Cables: Check all cables for damage or loose connections.
