1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the ZENIKO ZF04/ZF08 Mini Rechargeable Camera Flash Light Speedlite. This compact and powerful flash unit is designed to enhance your photography with true-to-life lighting and fast recycling times. Please read this manual carefully before use to ensure proper operation and to maximize the performance of your device.

The ZF series is compatible with a wide range of cameras including Fuji XM5, Sony ZVE10, Nikon ZFC, and various Canon models, utilizing a standard hot shoe connection.

3. Setup

3.1 Attaching the Flash to Your Camera

  1. Locate the hot shoe mount on your camera.
  2. Slide the ZENIKO flash unit's hot shoe foot into your camera's hot shoe.
  3. Ensure the flash is securely seated.

3.2 Charging the Flash Unit

The ZF04/ZF08 features a built-in lithium battery and supports fast Type-C charging. It can be charged using a power bank, wall adapter, or computer USB port.

  1. Connect the provided USB charging cable to the Type-C port on the flash unit.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a compatible power source.
  3. The charging indicator (usually a light on the unit) will show the charging status.
  4. Charging times:
    • ZF04: Approximately 1 hour 10 minutes
    • ZF08: Approximately 40 minutes

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button (marked with a circle and vertical line) on the top of the flash unit to turn it on or off.

4.2 Adjusting Brightness

Press the brightness control button (marked with a sun icon) to cycle through available power levels.

  • ZF04: Offers 2 power levels (1/1, 1/2).
  • ZF08: Offers 5 power levels (1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16).

4.3 Flash Recycling and Duration

  • Fast Recycling: The flash unit boasts a rapid recycling time of less than 3 seconds at full power, ensuring you're always ready for the next shot.
  • Full Power Flashes:
    • ZF04: Provides approximately 372 flashes at full power.
    • ZF08: Provides approximately 440 flashes at full power.

4.4 Automatic Sleep Mode

To conserve battery life, the flash unit will automatically enter sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity. Press any button to wake it up.

4.5 Sync Triggering

The flash unit uses a standard hot shoe for sync triggering, allowing it to fire in conjunction with your camera's shutter release.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the flash unit clean and dry. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior.
  • Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the unit yourself, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.
  • Store the unit in its provided storage bag when not in use to protect it from dust and scratches.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Flash not firing:
    • Ensure the flash unit is securely mounted on the camera's hot shoe.
    • Check if the flash unit is powered on.
    • Verify the battery is charged.
    • Confirm your camera's flash settings are correctly configured to trigger an external flash.
  • Flash not charging:
    • Ensure the USB cable is properly connected to both the flash unit and the power source.
    • Try a different USB cable or power source.
  • Inconsistent flash output:
    • Check the battery level; low battery can affect performance.
    • Ensure the flash unit is not overheating (allow it to cool down if used continuously at high power).
