8. User Tips
- For optimal connectivity, ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. If your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz band during setup.
- When installing lights outdoors, it's recommended to first connect them to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth near your router. After successful pairing, you can move them to the outdoor location. As long as your phone has internet access and Bluetooth is enabled, you can still control the lights even if they are further from the Wi-Fi router.
- If your lights turn on automatically without your command, check the 'Schedule' or 'Timing Function' settings within the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app to ensure no unintended timers are active.
9. Troubleshooting
Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:
9.1 Light Does Not Light Up
- Check Wire Connection: Ensure the live wire is connected to the live wire and the neutral wire to the neutral wire. A ground wire connection is not needed.
- Master Switch: Verify that the main power switch for the light fixture is turned on.
9.2 Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi
- Wi-Fi Frequency: Confirm that your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The downlight does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi for connection.
- Distance from Router: Make sure the downlight is not too far from your Wi-Fi router during the initial setup process.
- Bluetooth On: Ensure your mobile phone's Bluetooth is turned on, as it assists in the pairing process.
- Network Congestion: Check if your Wi-Fi network is connected to too many devices, which can sometimes interfere with new device connections.
9.3 Light Doesn't Work When Installed Outdoors
- Initial Connection: Connect the downlight to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth while it is close to your router first. Once successfully paired, you can then install it outdoors.
- Phone Connectivity: Ensure your phone remains connected to the internet and has Bluetooth enabled. This allows control even if the light is further from the Wi-Fi signal.
9.4 Light Automatically Turns On Without Control
- App Timers: Check the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app for any scheduled 'timed turn on' settings that might be active for this light.
- Network Interruption: If your network experiences sudden interruptions, the light may lose its connection and default to an 'on' state.
9.5 Light Cannot Flash After Wiring (for Pairing Mode)
- Power Cycle Slowly: Repeat the process of turning the main switch ON and OFF slowly several times. Typically, after cycling the main switch ON and OFF three times slowly, the light will begin to flash rapidly a few seconds after being turned on for the fourth time, indicating it's in pairing mode.
10. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Ensure the power is off before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the downlight. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Regular Checks: Periodically check the downlight for any signs of damage or loose connections.
- Software Updates: Keep your Tuya Smart/Smart Life app updated to the latest version for optimal performance and new features.
