4.1 Installing a Memory Card
The Vantrue E2 Dashcam supports Micro SD Cards from 32GB to 512GB (U3/Class10/A2). For reliable operation, we recommend using a VANTRUE SD card (sold separately).
- Insert the memory card into the card slot according to the direction indicated by the icon, until a "click" sound is heard.
- If the screen prompts "Card error, please format", press the menu button to start the formatting process.
Reminder:
- We recommend formatting the card once a month to ensure normal operation.
- Do not remove or insert the memory card during recording to avoid losing important videos.
- Avoid using bad or low-speed cards as this can lead to recording interruptions or data loss.
- Before formatting, check the event video folder for any videos that need to be saved separately.

4.2 Installing the Camera onto Your Windshield
- Installation of Camera Mount: Align the mount with the dash cam mount interface then push in until the mount is installed.
- Installation of Electrostatic Stickers: Thoroughly clean the windshield with water or alcohol, then wipe it with a dry cloth. Stick the electrostatic sticker behind the rear-view mirror (recommended position). Remove the protective film from No. 1, paste the sticker, then remove film No. 2. Remove the 3M tape from the mount, then fix the mount and camera on the electrostatic stickers.

4.3 Connecting the Car Charger and Rear Camera
- Connect one end of the car charger to the car cigarette lighter and the other end to the Type C port on the front camera GPS mount. The green light on the car charger indicates it is powered on.
- Arrange the car charger cable and rear camera cable as shown in the figure. Use the provided cable clips to secure them in place.
- Select an appropriate installation position for the rear camera on the rear windshield, avoiding the defogging line. Fix the rear camera and adjust its angle, then connect it to the main front camera.

10. Firmware Upgrade
Keeping your dashcam's firmware updated ensures you have the latest features and improvements.
10.1 Method 1: File Update
- Download the latest E2 dash cam firmware from the VANTRUE official website.
- Place the firmware file in the root directory of the memory card.
- Reinsert the card into the dash cam.
- Power on the device to initiate the update.
10.2 Method 2: OTA Update via App
- Open the Vantrue App.
- If a firmware update is available, you will receive a push notification.
- Confirm the update to be redirected to the OTA upgrade interface.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update.
Important Upgrade Notes:
For both methods, keep your E2 dash cam connected to power during the entire update process. For File Updates, format the memory card in the E2 dash cam first. For App OTA Update, note that downloading firmware files consumes mobile data.
11. Maintenance
- Memory Card: Format the memory card once a month to ensure optimal performance and prevent issues from excessive files or card aging.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the dashcam lens and screen with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Storage: When not in use, especially in extreme winter conditions (-4°F / -20°C or lower), detach the camera from the windshield and store it in the glove box.
12. Troubleshooting
- "Card error, please format" message: This indicates an issue with the SD card. Format the card as instructed in the setup section. If the issue persists, try a new functional SD card.
- GPS Connection Issues: If GPS connection is not successful within 1 minute of turning on, check if the GPS function is enabled, if the GPS bracket is properly connected, and if your environment (e.g., underground parking, dense residential areas, tunnels) is affecting the signal.
- App Connection Issues (CarPlay/Android Auto): It may not be possible to connect to the app when using CarPlay or Android Auto.
- App Connection Issues (General): If the app prompts "connect to WiFi first", complete the WiFi connection steps. If the app jumps to permissions after model selection, check if wireless network permission is enabled for the app.
- Firmware Update Issues: Ensure the dashcam remains powered throughout the update process. For file updates, format the SD card first.
- Parking Mode Malfunction: Ensure a hardwiring kit or stable continuous power supply is connected for proper parking mode operation.
- Overheating: In high temperatures (e.g., 140°F / 60°C), it's recommended to turn off the camera to prevent abnormal operation.
13. User Tips
- Regular SD Card Formatting: To maintain optimal recording performance and prevent data corruption, format your SD card at least once a month.
- Hardwire Kit for Parking Mode: For reliable 24/7 parking surveillance, it is highly recommended to use a dedicated hardwire kit to provide continuous power to the dashcam.
- Voice Control Convenience: Utilize the hands-free voice control for quick actions like taking photos or locking videos, allowing you to keep your focus on the road.
- Check App Permissions: If you experience issues connecting the app, ensure that the Vantrue app has the necessary wireless network permissions on your mobile device.
