6. Troubleshooting

6.1 SD Card Not Detected

If the system does not detect the SD card, consider the following:

  • Ensure the camera is powered off before inserting the SD card.
  • Use a Class 10 or above microSD card for optimal read/write speed.
  • The SD card might be faulty. Try another card.
  • The SD card may not be formatted correctly. Format the SD card via the SriHome app (Settings -> Record Setting -> Format SD Card) or refer to www.sricam.com/srihome/download for formatting tools.
  • The SD card slot on the camera might be malfunctioning.

6.2 Unstable Wi-Fi Connection / Camera Offline

If your camera's Wi-Fi connection is unstable or frequently goes offline:

  • Check that the camera's antenna is securely tightened.
  • Ensure your wireless router has the maximum transmission power set. Some routers may reduce power, affecting wireless performance.
  • Check your Wi-Fi channels. If they are busy, reconfigure your router to 'Automatic' channel selection.
  • The camera's IP address might conflict with other devices on your network. Consider setting a fixed IP address for the camera.
  • If multiple wireless networks with the same name (SSID) are present (e.g., from a neighbor or a Wi-Fi repeater), devices might connect to the wrong network. Set a unique SSID for your wireless network.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi signal strength in the SriHome app. It should ideally be more than 3 bars. A weak signal (less than 3 bars) often indicates the camera is too far from the Wi-Fi router.

6.3 Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi

If you are unable to set up Wi-Fi for your IP camera:

  • All IP cameras support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Some IP cameras do not support 5GHz Wi-Fi. Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz network.
  • Check if MAC filtering is enabled on your router. If so, disable it temporarily during camera configuration.
  • Ensure your router's DHCP is enabled. After successful setup, you can set a fixed IP address for the camera and then disable DHCP if desired.
  • The Wi-Fi encryption should be WPA/WPA2-PSK (AES or TKIP). WEP is an older, less secure technology and is not recommended.
  • Set your Wi-Fi channel to 'AUTO' to avoid busy channels.
  • If signal is inconsistent, try disconnecting other devices from the network or moving the camera closer to the router.
  • If other quality or setup issues persist, perform a factory reset (refer to Section 5.1).
