Screen Display Elements:

  • Record Indicator: Shows if a measurement is being recorded.
  • Laser ON Indicator: Indicates when the laser is active.
  • Maximum/Minimum Value: Displays the highest/lowest values in continuous measurement mode.
  • Main Display Area: Shows current measurement results.
  • Power Source/Battery Indicator: Displays battery level.
  • Measurement Mode Indicator: Shows current mode (Length, Surface, Volume, Pythagoras).
  • Angle Display: Shows the current tilt angle.
  • Auxiliary Display Area: Provides additional measurement details.

Button Functions:

  • READ Button: Powers on the device, activates the laser, and initiates measurements.
  • OFF CLEAR Button: Powers off the device and clears current measurements.
  • UNIT / Speaker Button: Toggles between measurement units (m, in, ft, ft+in) and mutes/unmutes sound.
  • M (Mode) Button: Cycles through measurement modes (Area, Volume, Pythagorean).
  • Reference Point / Delay Measurement Button: Changes the measurement reference point (front/rear) and activates delay measurement.
  • + / - Buttons: Adds or subtracts measurements.

3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

The TACKLIFE S5-50 is equipped with a rechargeable battery. Use the provided USB charging cable to connect the device to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port. The battery indicator on the screen will show charging status. Ensure the device is fully charged before first use for optimal performance.

3.2 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press the READ button. The screen will light up.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the OFF CLEAR button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically power off after 150 seconds of inactivity.

4. Operation

4.1 Basic Distance Measurement

  1. Point the laser rangefinder at the target.
  2. Press the READ button once to activate the laser.
  3. Press the READ button again to take a measurement. The result will be displayed on the main screen.

4.2 Continuous Measurement (Min/Max)

This mode is useful for finding the shortest or longest distance to a moving target or for scanning a room. The device will continuously measure and display the current, minimum, and maximum distances.

  1. Press and hold the READ button to enter continuous measurement mode.
  2. Move the device slowly across the target area. The screen will update with current, minimum, and maximum values.
  3. Press the READ button again to stop continuous measurement.

4.3 Unit Switching

To change the measurement unit:

  • Press the UNIT button repeatedly to cycle through available units: Meters (m), Inches (in), Feet (ft), and Feet+Inches (ft+in).

4.4 Measurement Modes

The TACKLIFE S5-50 supports various measurement functions. Press the M (Mode) button to cycle through these modes.

  • Individual Measurement: Standard single distance measurement.
  • Continuous Measurement: As described in section 4.2.
  • Area Measurement: Measures length and width to calculate area.
  • Volume Measurement: Measures length, width, and height to calculate volume.
  • Pythagorean Measurement (Single/Double): Indirectly measures height or distance using the Pythagorean theorem. Follow the on-screen prompts for each step.

4.5 Add/Subtract Measurements

To add or subtract measurements:

  • After taking a measurement, press the + button to add the next measurement to the current total.
  • Press the - button to subtract the next measurement from the current total.

4.6 Reference Point Adjustment

The device can measure from its front edge or its rear edge. This is crucial for accurate measurements depending on how you position the device.

  • Press the Reference Point button to toggle between measuring from the front or rear of the device. An icon on the screen will indicate the active reference point.

4.7 Angle Measurement

The integrated electronic angle sensor automatically displays the tilt angle on the screen, ranging from -90.0° to 90.0°. This feature is useful for ensuring level surfaces or for indirect height measurements.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals.
  • Ensure the laser lens and display screen are kept clean for accurate readings.

5.2 Storage

  • Store the laser rangefinder in its provided carrying pouch when not in use.
  • Keep the device in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

5.3 Battery Care

  • Recharge the battery regularly, even if the device is not used frequently, to maintain battery health.
  • Avoid completely draining the battery before recharging.

6. Troubleshooting
