6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Real-time Monitoring

Once connected, the sensor's LCD screen will display the current temperature, humidity, date, time, and battery level. You can also view these readings and historical data graphs within the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.

6.2. Temperature Unit Conversion (°C/°F)

To switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit:

  1. Open the sensor's settings in the app.
  2. Locate the temperature unit option and select your desired unit (°C or °F).
  3. To ensure the change is reflected quickly, temporarily set the temperature report cycle to 1 minute.
  4. After approximately one minute, the sensor's display and app will update to the new unit.
  5. You can then revert the report cycle to your preferred interval (e.g., 120 minutes) to conserve battery life.

6.3. Setting Alarms

You can configure high and low temperature/humidity alarms in the app. If the monitored environment exceeds or falls below your set thresholds, you will receive a notification on your smartphone.

6.4. Intelligent Linkage (Automation)

Leverage the Zigbee gateway to create smart automation rules:

  • Temperature-based Automation: For example, if the indoor temperature exceeds 35°C, automatically turn on your smart air conditioner (requires a compatible Wi-Fi IR remote).
  • Humidity-based Automation: For example, if the humidity drops below 20% RH, automatically activate your smart humidifier (requires a compatible Wi-Fi switch).

Note: Intelligent linkage functions require a universal infrared remote control or Wi-Fi switch and a Tuya Zigbee gateway.

6.5. Voice Control

Integrate your sensor with Amazon Alexa or Google Home Assistant. Once linked, you can ask your voice assistant for the current temperature and humidity readings.

7. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace the three AAA 1.5V batteries when the low-battery indicator appears on the display or in the app.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the sensor gently with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Placement: Avoid placing the sensor in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with extreme temperature fluctuations or high humidity, as this can affect accuracy and device lifespan.

8. Troubleshooting

Q: The sensor is not connecting to the app.
A: Ensure your Tuya Zigbee Gateway Hub is properly set up and connected to your Wi-Fi network. Check that the sensor has fresh batteries and is in pairing mode (blinking Wi-Fi icon after long-pressing the button). Make sure the sensor is within range of the Zigbee gateway.
Q: Does the sensor work without a Zigbee gateway?
A: No, this is a Zigbee device and requires a Tuya Zigbee Gateway Hub to connect to the Smart Life/Tuya app and your home network.
Q: How far can the sensor be from the Zigbee hub?
A: Zigbee devices typically have an indoor range of 10-100 meters, depending on obstacles like walls and furniture. For optimal performance, keep the sensor within a reasonable distance of your gateway.
Q: Can I disable the temperature/humidity alarms?
A: Yes, you can disable or adjust the alarm thresholds through the sensor's settings in the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
Q: The temperature unit switch is not working immediately.
A: After changing the unit in the app, temporarily set the data report cycle to 1 minute. The sensor will update its display and the app with the new unit within that minute. You can then reset the report cycle to a longer interval.

9. User Tips

  • Gateway is Key: Always ensure your Zigbee gateway is properly set up and connected to the app before attempting to add the sensor. This is a common point of confusion for new users.
  • Pairing Mode: If you encounter pairing issues, double-check that the sensor is actively in pairing mode (blinking Wi-Fi icon) by long-pressing its button.
  • Customize Alerts: Take advantage of the customizable alarm settings in the app to receive timely notifications for high or low temperature/humidity, helping you maintain optimal indoor conditions.
  • Battery Life: While the default report cycle offers long battery life, you can adjust it for more frequent updates if needed, keeping in mind this will reduce battery duration.
