5. Setup and Installation
The PZEM-008 is designed for 35mm DIN rail mounting. Ensure all power is disconnected before proceeding with installation.
5.1. Wiring Instructions
This meter features a built-in current transformer (CT) for no-screw wiring, helping to avoid poor contact and heating issues. It is a single-phase meter.

General Wiring Steps:
- Turn off Power: Before any wiring, ensure the main power supply is completely off.
- Mount the Meter: Securely lock the PZEM-008 onto the 35mm DIN rail.
- Connect L Line through CT: Take the Live (L) line from your main switch and pass it through the current transformer (CT) ring of the PZEM-008.
- Connect L Line to Meter: Connect the Live (L) line from the PZEM-008's terminal to the main switch, ensuring it's connected with the same L line that passed through the CT ring.
- Connect N Line: Connect the Neutral (N) line from the PZEM-008's terminal to the main switch's Neutral (N) line.
- Tighten Connections: Ensure all screws are securely tightened to prevent loose connections.
- Restore Power: After verifying all connections are correct and secure, turn on the main power supply.
Note:
- You do not need to distinguish between the Neutral (N) or Live (L) line when passing it through the CT ring. Either line can go through the ring.
- However, do NOT pass both the N and L lines together through the CT ring. Only one line should pass through.
- The measurement voltage and ampere shall not exceed the calibration range.
- Make sure the wiring is correct before powering on.

6. Operation
The PZEM-008 measures AC voltage, current, active power, and energy, displaying them on its LCD screen.
6.1. Display Instructions

- Voltage: Measurement range AC50-300V. Starting test voltage: 50V. Accuracy: ±1%.
- Current: Measurement range 0-100A. Display format: <10A as 9.99A, <100A as 99.9A. Starting test current: 0.02A. Accuracy: ±1%.
- Active Power: Measurement range 0-30kW. Display format: <10W as 9.99W, <100W as 99.9W, <1000W as 999W, <10000W as 9.99kW, ≥10000W as 30.0kW. Starting test power: 0.5W. Accuracy: ±1%.
- Energy: Measurement range 0-1999kWh. Display format: <10kWh as 9.99kWh, <100kWh as 99.9kWh, <1000kWh as 999kWh, <10000kWh as 1999kWh. Over the test range, the data will be maintained; otherwise, you reset it. Accuracy: ±1%.
6.2. Other Functions
- Backlight Control: The backlight can be turned on or off by a short press of the 'CLR' key.
- Reset Energy: Long press the 'CLR' key for over 3 seconds until the energy data flashes. Then, release the key and short press it again to reset the energy. If you do not short press again within 3 seconds, it will stop flashing, and the energy will not be reset.
- Data Storage: When the power is off, the energy data and backlight status are automatically saved.
7. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean and dry.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel.
- Ensure all connections remain tight and secure.
8. Troubleshooting
If the device is not displaying readings or functioning correctly, please check the following:
- No Display: Verify that the power supply is connected correctly and is within the specified voltage range (AC50-300V).
- Incorrect Readings: Ensure the wiring is correct, especially that only one Live (L) or Neutral (N) line passes through the CT ring, not both. Check that the measurement range is not exceeded.
- Energy Not Resetting: Follow the 'Reset Energy' procedure carefully (long press, release, then short press the 'CLR' key).
If problems persist, consult the manufacturer or a qualified electrician.
9. User Tips
- The PZEM-008 is supplied as a single unit.
- This meter is specifically designed for DIN Rail Mounting, making it easy to integrate into existing electrical panels.
