4. Setup
Battery Installation:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert two (2) AAA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
5. Operation
5.1 Power On/Off
- Power On: Press the READ button.
- Power Off: Press and hold the OFF/CLEAR button for a few seconds. The device will automatically shut off after 150 seconds of inactivity.
5.2 Basic Distance Measurement
- Single Measurement: Press the READ button once to activate the laser. Press it again to take a measurement. The result will appear on the main display.
- Continuous Measurement (Tracking Mode): Press and hold the READ button. The device will continuously measure the distance, displaying the current, maximum, and minimum values. Press OFF/CLEAR to exit.
5.3 Switching Measurement Units
Long press the unit key (often integrated with the reference point button or a dedicated 'U' button) to cycle through available units: meters (m), inches (in), feet (ft), and feet+inches (ft+in).

5.4 Advanced Measurement Modes
Press the Function button to cycle through different measurement modes:
- Area Measurement: Measure two sides (length and width) to calculate the area.
- Volume Measurement: Measure three sides (length, width, and height) to calculate the volume.
- Pythagorean Theorem (Indirect Measurement): Use two or three measurements to indirectly calculate a distance (e.g., height of a building).
- Addition and Subtraction: Use the +/- button to add or subtract measurements.

5.5 Data Storage and Recall
The device automatically stores up to 99 sets of historical data values. Press the History button to view stored measurements.

5.6 Self-Calibration Mode
To ensure measurement accuracy, the device includes a self-calibration function:
- With the device OFF, press the OFF/CLEAR key.
- Then, press and hold the READ button.
- Release the READ button when the bottom of the screen shows 'CRL'.
- Use the +/- keys to adjust the calibration value (adjustment range: -9 to +9mm).
- Press the READ key to save the calibration result.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Lens Care: The laser lens is a sensitive component. Clean it gently with a soft cloth, similar to cleaning camera lenses.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the device in its protective pouch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Avoid Impact: Although durable, avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts to maintain accuracy and functionality.
8. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Check if batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
- "Err 1m" displayed: This error typically indicates that the measurement target is too far or too close, or the laser signal is obstructed. Ensure the target is within the specified measurement range and the laser path is clear.
- Inaccurate measurements: Perform a self-calibration as described in Section 5.6. Ensure the measurement surface is reflective enough and the device is held steady.
- Laser not visible: In bright sunlight or strong ambient light, the laser dot may be difficult to see. Try using the device in shaded areas or indoors.
9. User Tips
- For best accuracy, always ensure the device's reference point is correctly set (front or rear of the device) according to your measurement needs.
- When measuring long distances, use a target plate to improve laser visibility and measurement accuracy.
- Utilize the continuous measurement mode for quickly finding minimum and maximum distances, which is useful for diagonal measurements or determining clearances.
- Keep the laser lens clean to prevent measurement errors.
10. Safety Information
WARNING: This is a Class 2 laser product. Do not stare into the laser beam or direct it at other people or animals. Avoid direct eye exposure.
- Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the device. Unauthorized modifications can lead to hazardous laser radiation exposure.
- Keep the device out of reach of children.
- Use the device only for its intended purpose as a distance measuring tool.
- Avoid using the device in explosive environments or near flammable materials.
