3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Control Methods

The smart switch module can be controlled using three primary methods:

  • Mobile Application (Tuya Smart / Ewelink): Control devices remotely from anywhere.
  • 433MHz Remote Control: Use a compatible 433MHz remote for local control.
  • Voice Control: Integrate with smart assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

3.2 Mobile App Functions

The mobile application provides comprehensive control and automation features:

  • Remote Control: Turn devices on/off from your smartphone, even when you're away from home.
  • Timing Function / Schedule: Set schedules to automatically turn devices on or off at specific times (e.g., lights, coffee machine, humidifier).
  • Countdown Function: Set a countdown timer for devices to automatically turn off after a set duration.
  • Group Control: Group multiple smart switches together to control them simultaneously with a single tap.
  • Smart Scene: Create custom scenes to trigger device actions based on various conditions like departure/home mode, temperature, humidity, or other environmental factors.
  • Family Sharing: Share control permissions with family members, allowing everyone to manage smart devices.

3.4 Working Modes

The module supports three working modes, configurable via the app or physical buttons:

  • Self-locking Mode (Default): Each channel operates independently. Turning one channel ON/OFF does not affect others. Ideal for controlling individual lights or appliances.
  • Interlock Mode: When one channel is turned ON, all other channels automatically turn OFF. This is useful for controlling motors (e.g., garage doors, window blinds) where only one direction of movement should be active at a time.
  • Inching Mode (Jog Mode): A channel turns ON for a customizable short duration (0.5 to 3600 seconds) and then automatically turns OFF. Useful for momentary actions like pressing a button or triggering a short pulse.

4. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your smart switch module:

  • Keep the device in a dry environment, away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid exposing the device to direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Clean the device periodically with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the module, especially if enclosed, to prevent overheating.
  • Regularly check wiring connections for any signs of wear or looseness.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your smart switch module, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

5.1 Device Pairing Issues

Problem: Device not found or not pairing with the Zigbee Gateway/Hub.

Solution:

  1. Check LED Status: Ensure the device's network indicator LED is blinking. If it's not, the device is not in pairing mode.
  2. Reset Device: Power on the device, then press and hold the manual switch button for 5-15 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly. This puts the device into pairing mode.
  3. Gateway Proximity: Ensure the smart switch module is close to the Zigbee Gateway/Hub during the pairing process.
  4. Gateway Status: Verify that your Zigbee Gateway/Hub is powered on and connected to your network.
  5. App Updates: Ensure your Ewelink or Tuya Smart app is updated to the latest version.

5.2 Remote Control Issues (433MHz)

Problem: 433MHz remote not controlling the module.

Solution:

  1. Battery Check: Ensure the 433MHz remote has a fresh 12V 27A battery installed.
  2. Re-pair Remote: Follow the 433MHz remote pairing instructions in Section 3.5 to re-pair the remote with the module.
  3. Range: Ensure the remote is within effective range of the module.

5.3 Voice Control Issues

Problem: Alexa or Google Home not responding to commands.

Solution:

  1. App Integration: Verify that your Tuya Smart or Ewelink account is correctly linked to your Alexa or Google Home app.
  2. Device Sync: In the Alexa/Google Home app, try discovering new devices or syncing your smart home devices.
  3. Command Phrasing: Use clear and correct voice commands as recognized by your smart assistant.
  4. Internet Connection: Ensure both your smart assistant device and Zigbee Gateway/Hub have a stable internet connection.
